Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (Xbox 360, 2006)

Hard title to swallow given that Call of Duty 2 was such a hit, but I'm confident in saying that GRAW is the best 360 game to date.

The graphics inspire awe at every corner, and when such is the case the framerate typically suffers. This is not so in this game. Flying over entire cities with amazing quality on far off objects and you still get a steady 30 FPS at the least. Game play is amazing as well, coupling the intensity of a 3rd (or 1st) person shooter with a well crafted tactical aspect where commanding helecopters, tanks, and your fellow squad mates is as big a focus as your personal character.

The only things I can harp on are two minor animation defects that bug me. One, only characters that appear on your cross com (pre rendered stuff) have animation for speaking. All other in game characters have sound come out, but their lips don't move. Two, when reloading you watch as your character reaches up for the clip in his gun, reaches for a fresh one from his pocket, and sticks it in... but the clip in the gun never moves. They animated your characters movements but he never actually has a clip in his hand.

This is a good game for multiplayer and or playing alone or online as well! it has many different sides to it ( you can play multiple stories and different weapons to complete missions )

the graphics are second to none and the game has real life scenarios and realism unlike other games!

this is a must have for gamers! the online play mode is what makes it stand out. i would recommended this game for anyone that likes shooting games!

I did not read all the reviews for G.R.A.W. (Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter) and apologize if I am being repetitive but it appears that nobody mentioned what it feels to actually sit down and play this beautifully designed game.

Simply put there are "More Combos than Tekken and Soul Calibur 3 Together," and by that, I mean the commands available to you in Single Player mode feel almost overwhelming the first time you play the game. Generally, I can play almost any game and pick up the concept and be a mediocre player within minutes. With GRAW, it was the complete opposite, a refreshing experience to say the least.

During training, you are taught the various commands and actions you are capable of performing as Captain. Let me tell you, it is a lot to absorb.

GRAW is the first game I have ever played in Single Player Mode that I do not feel 100% fully in control. Of course, during online play that changes because the human aspect is brought into game play.

I will not get into the Xbox Live aspect, but know this… GRAW has the most innovative, rewarding, and challenging Single Player Mode than any other game to date.

I find myself going back to Campaign mode to finish missions instead of jumping online which alone tells largely of the awesomeness of this game.

Off the top of my head, this is everything you can do in single player: command tanks, apaches, and your teammates; climb over obstacles, slide using your knees for quick cover or do a full out dive to drop to the floor quick; use ANYTHING for cover by leaning into it, see and hear what your teammates see and hear with the HUD, get incoming video feeds, shoot the 50cal rifle from the apache before landing, command one teammate at a time or the whole team; and much more.

The Bottom Line is: you are kept busy every moment of the game and that makes for an awesome game!!!

Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter or G.R.A.W., as it is almost more well-known as, is the latest from Ubisoft and the third installment of the Ghost Recon series. From the graphics to the game play, G.R.A.W. has “next-gen” written all over it and is, arguably, the best strategy shooter... offers an extensive Campaign and a multi-player mode with a plethora of configurations to tailor the game to your liking. Featured on XBox Live, G.R.A.W. offers both unranked and ranked games fully customizable should you decide to host the game from 2-16 soldiers. It's notable to mention that this is the first game that allows for 16-player Co-op and playing through the Mission mode setting against enemy A.I. Of course, included are the favorite Ghost Recon classics such as Team Elimination and Siege, as well as other modes to keep the longevity going for months to come.

How about the story? Taken place in the enormous Mexico City, Mexico, G.R.A.W. has us taking on the command of Captain Scott Mitchell including a squad of three other ghosts. Without giving up too much of the story, let's just say that the President and Vice-President of Mexico are missing and the Prime Minister of Canada was assassinated! Obviously, this is a job for the Ghosts! Fortunately, Mitchell's resources don't just limit him to three other squad members, but rather, include sophisticated combat gear, an arsenal of weapons to choose from, and communications gear that allow you to give commands to ghosts that are in tanks and helicopters.

While starting each mission, Captain Scott Mitchell patiently squats down while manning a turret inside the open wall of a flying Blackhawk helicopter. It's noteworthy to mention that while he is flying, he is overlooking a fantastic view of the beautifully detailed Mexico City where smoke billows from gun fighting, buildings burning, and vehicles exploding. An even nicer touch is that the scenes are hardly cut-scenes because Mitchell and his trio of ghosts jump right into the action keeping the same integrity of the graphical detail. It just never gets old...

I am glad I bought this game. An absolute blast. Graphics are great and online mode is out of this world. If any game could defeat Halo 3, it's definately this one. A MUST have!

This is a Great upgrade that they did with this game. This game has gone under a definite transformation. No longer is Ghost Recon a boring game to play. This has Great graphics, and great gameplay. This has a High Replay Value. This is worth anyones time.

When i orignally purchased the game the graphics werent so great till i pluged it into a HDTV which is downstairs... DID IT CHANGE THE GAME PLAY! Oh man. This game is officially the best of my list after Call Of Duty. A++ Buy if you have a HDTV, ENJOY!

f you like tactical shooters this is a great game; however, if you are not a tactician then be prepared to die over and over again. If you dont creep from cover to cover you will not make it. The missions are very linear. You are here go over there and don't get killed on the way. It is very hard to see the enemies at the ranges they will be shooting you, if you switch to thermal you lose all detail and the great graphics are just green blobs. Your squad is competent, but you have to be as carefull with them as you have to be yourself. The "cross comm" or HUD is often cluttered with too much information. The enemies do show up as red diamonds when you have seen them, but while you maneuver to get a shot an enemy you havent seen yet kills you before you can react.

Overal a good tactical shooter if you like that stuff, if not pass on this one.

Running over the wet ground and as you duck down behind a rock, bullets flying by you and your teams head's. Your in the fight with fantastic graphics, realistic movements, real guns, and fun gameplay. Many great environments to explore and numerous obstacles to hide behind. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter puts you in the action with out the real dangers of war. Great for any Military junkie. Get in and start shootin'!

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is amazing the graphics, sound, and gameplay are among the best seen.I really enjoyed playing the coop which you play you and a friend vs about 40 AI players.The online is fantastic also.Buy this game.

Gameplay - 10/10

The gameplay has come a long way since Ghost Recon 2. Ubi added in the ability to dive to a prone stance, and slide on your knees into crouch. A drone that hovers overhead can be controlled by the player and sent ahead to scout out enemy activity. A picture in picture screen called the "cross-com" allows you to watch the screen of your squadmates. Add in the ability to take cover on almost any piece of the environments in the single player campaign and you have some excellent gameplay to enjoy. Even with all of the additions, the gameplay stays true to the series and will feel familiar to GR veterans.

Graphics - 10/10

The graphics in this game are the best I've ever seen in a video game. The graphics are crystal clear, the special effects are excellent (you have to see the explosions!), and the lighting is awesome. For an example, if you sit in the shade for a bit and then go back out into the sun, your eyes actually have to adjust to the brightness.

Sound - 10/10

The sound quality is absolutely superb in this game. The sound effects are awesome, and the game features a top notch soundtrack that definitely deserves a soundtrack at some point.

Controls - 10/10

The controls can be difficult to grasp at first, but after a few minutes of tinkering with the training mission, it becomes second nature.

Replay Value - 10/10

If you have Xbox Live, you'll be playing this game for months to come. The single player mode is outstanding, the co-op is great, and by the time the game starts to get old, Ubi tends to release waves of downloadable content.

Ghost Recon - Advance Warfighter is a game that when rented, entices the user to run out there and purchase the game. The Tom Clancy series is finally coming into its own now that the next generation of home entertainment systems.

The game has multiple modes of play, though what is most impressive is the various levels of multiplayer action the game offers. When taking a break from the single player action, it offers addictive game modes that do not allow a user to pull themselves away.

The achievements are well distributed between single player action and multiplayer/online action bringing the overal replay value to a HIGH level.

This game is highly recommened and should be at least tested by any XBOX 360 owner.

I purchased this game thinking it would harken back to the Island Thunder glory days of Ghost Recon. Was I ever mistaken. The clumsy weapons interface makes it difficult to switch in a pinch. Switching from auto to single shot will get you shot in the back as you stand still to bring up your heads up display.Sniper The sniper rifle in this game is as deadly as a red ryder daisy bb-gun and it will get you killed. If you want a superior fps that is actually fun and not plauged by "Clan" politics in every room you go into, buy Battlefield 2. Don't waste your money on G-R-A-W you will only be dissapointed.

i got this game yesterday and i was skied to play it. when i was in the training level the graphics blew me away. even though there are too many button controls, but i hope i get used to it soon. even without the high def. the game has great graphics. also the shooting controls are great and this game is definitly worth the price of 60.00. IF U HAVE A 360 GET IT NOW

I have been a fan of Ghost Recon since the first one came out for the XBOX(including GRIT).I didn't care too much for GR2 because there's no suspense like in the first one.

Enter GRAW!

The graphics are superb!Everyone will agree with that.The sound is taken directly from the real guns.Atmosphere sound makes you feel like you really there that is (if you have 5.1).

The music is motivational and sometimes a life saver in multiplayer.Let me tell you my online experience...

My 3 teammates are cautiosly moving down the street.They all have rifles,but I chose an auto matic machine gun for up close and personal situations.I turn the corner and I saw the enemy exit the library and heading my way.He see's me and take aim.I aim my rather large gun at his direction,he opens fire before I can pull the trigger.His bullet rip apart the side of the building that I'm standing next to,but he misses.I find my marker and open fire on him.Bullets riddle down the street,up the grassy mound of dirt and debris fly up in the air from the impact of the bullets,just like you would see on the movie,and kills my target.He staggers and falls to the ground. The excitement continues and it has me completely hooked.This game is a solid 10+ I would really recommend it.

Zero Project: This game is truly awesome. Graphics are good, but what really takes the cake is the lighting. Your eyes will actually have to adjust to the light. The control has a steep learning curve, some find it too difficult (gamertag: Nazonozonoya). I really enjoyed the Champaign mode, but it seemed to short. The ghost squad AI suxs, but can be used to divert enemies. I started a new game on hard mode just for the achievement points. The inexperienced will certainly get killed very quickly in multiplayer mode. It only takes a few shots to kill you so you have to resort to other tactics. All in all this game gets an excellent review from me.

From start to finish, this game keeps you thinking and shooting with incredibly immersing graphics, intense unpredictable shootouts, and an awesome story to boot!

One minute, you're in a UH-60 Black Hawk Helo shooting one of its mean 7.62 mm mini-guns at swarms of mexican rebels, the next, your on the ground pounding out 5.56 mm from your heavily modified M4A1 (my personal favorite) and commanding your team and its armor support against a fresh wave of mexican rebels.

Whether your a competitive online multiplayer or just someone who likes to gang up on some bots with his buddies, this game has it! you can pit yourself and your friends (1 to 4 players) against up to 50 computers on some maps. as for online, this game is fully Xbox Live ready, so do it up.

this is hands down the best realistic (or attempt at it) FPS i have ever played.

I played them all, I even went through the first 3 on the pc, and all of the xbox versions as well even downloaded the new levels off xbox live, I dont know how they can top this game, by far the best ghost recon ever!!!

I think that this is one of the best in the series. I was really impressed with bullet contact on different surfaces. The single player mode was great. Controlling your team, drones, tanks and helicopters could not of been made anymore simple. And online play ranks high too. I enjoyed the coop campaign online. Nothing like blasting through the story with your buddies. I recommend this one.

This is one of the most realistic games I have ever played. The campaign is awesome and the multiplayer is one of a kind. You would be crazy not to have G.R.A.W. in your XBOX 360 collection.

i dont have this game yet but i played it for alomst 5 hours at my friends house and couldnt drag myself away. Everything is great, missions, xbox live, multiplayer.

You can switch from 1st person to 3rd person which is a great feature.

If you like action, war, 1st person shooters or third peson shooters and have a 360 i would highly suggest this.
