TODO A SU TIEMPO was nominated for a 1996 Grammy Award for Best Tropical
Latin Performance.
Often argued to be his finest album, Marc Anthony's TODO A SU TIEMPO boasts its Grammy-worthy shine from the very first track. More than just one of the finest salseros of the '90s, the man is a truly celebrated figure in the Latin music community. Marc displays passion, intelligence and a dead-on rhythmic sense that go hand-in-hand with a clear love for his people. Though the latter is certainly evident in the tunes, one need look no further than the album's dedication: "For my beloved Puerto Rico, Your Son Marco."
Even with such a monton of talent at Marc's lips, Sergio George's production sense still doesn't hurt matters. The studio talent includes veteran percussionists like Marc Quinones (of Allman Brothers fame) and Bobby Allende, the great Latin jazzman William Cepeda on trombone and a then less well-known Gabriela Anders furnishing background vocals. The track listing is jammed with hits: the cresting declarations of "Te Conozco Bien," the blazing fire of horns and Marc's soaring declarations combined with Sergio's insouciant piano work on "Nadie Como Ella" and the riveting, rose-in-mouth desperation of "Hasta Ayer" are only the more obvious highlights.
