Most of his best work is on this set. It is a primo set that will be played over and over, and for a lot of years! The packaging is awsome and the book is a work of art. It's definitely a "keeper"!

A must for the true ELTON fan! I love the set. I have been looking for one for a long time, It completes my EJ CD collection. BIG BONUS there is songs on the CD's you CAN NOT find anywhere else!!If you find one get it NOW!!!!!!
This box set contains nearly every hit of Elton John's from 1970 to 1990. The early 70's was the best period, then some of the hits later on were worthwhile, and past 1983, even the hits were getting boring. The fourth CD could have easily been left off or they could have added more early 70's stuff. There are obscure b sides as well, which are interesting, if not essential. I liked the demo version of Your Song with just Elton and his piano. There is a mellow version of Grey Seal, but I still like the rockin' version better. The lowest point is a dance tune called Act of War.
First,I'd like to just say that I was really happy with the condition of this box set and the reasonable price that I paid for it.It's not for the casual fan who would be better served by a single disc greatest hits collection, but it's more for the fan that wants to dig deep into Elton John's catalog and get the full picture.Since it was released in the early '90s it's not up to date, but includes many worthwhile songs while curiously omitting others. All in all,it's a great collection worth any price and it comes with a nice booklet.
What a collection to introduce someone to the early career of Elton John. From the beginnings of Bluesology to string of classics and hit singles that seem to be endless. The plus in this collection is the unreleased "flip sides" to the hit singles, and single cuts like "Ego" and "Pinball Wizard" that were only found on this set, and rare 12 inch versions also. To be continued is the most appropiate title for this set, as we can only hope for a To Be Continued Box 2. Sir Elton... we salute you.
