  1995 Scotty Cameron Classic Newport
Review created: 08/05/07

First produced in 1995, the Newport is the head design that is the backbone of the Cameron line. Most of the tour models and the majority of the production clubs in bags today are based on the Newport. The head design is based on the Classic 1, first produced in 1992 and made famous in the 1993 win at Augusta. The plumbers style neck on most Newports is complemented by a shorter flowing neck design known as the Santa Fe or 1.5 neck that is also available. The Newport 2 head is just a fraction larger than the original Newport and offers both length and head weight options. Very similar to the heads designed by Karsten Solheim, Scotty has refined the process to produce a quality and feel unequaled on the market today.

Scotty Cameron Newport Blacxk Oxide finish
Review created: 06/23/09
by:

This is one of the first putters Scotty Cameron created for Titleist in 1995-1997. The originals were done with a gun blue/black oxide finish. While these putters are not particularly rare, they are very much in demand by golfers and my collectors. Many of them have been refinished by either Titleist (you'll typically see a number or letter stamped in them at the bottom of the shaft in the metal of the neck) or Scotty Cameron and they'll look like new.

However, examples that have not been refinished, and better yet, are truly new with plastic on the grip, are now becoming collector's items. A refinished putter can typically be identified by looking for what is called "mill chatter" on the sole of the putter. Mill chatter is sort of a very mechanically derived marks in the metal. Instead of the metal looking perfectly smooth, you'll see little "waves" in the metal.

You might be lucky enough to find a black oxide Newport with 350/33 markings on it, designating a 350 gram head weight (330 grams is standard) and a 33 inch length. These are very much in demand. A mint original, unrefinished version may sell for $800-$1000 if you can find one, as they were fairly rare.

  something old

found a golf club that was old and in very good shape for the shape it was in. The club was exactly what I wanted it to be and in a good condition being that is was and old club. Not damaged and beaten up over the years. Had been taken care of, and will become a collecters item for this buyer.

I'm sure this would have been the putter of a lifetime, but somebody in the D.C. area thought they would enjoy it much more than I so they stole it directly from the UPS transfer station. Merry Christmas to me.

I bought the new putter 3weeks ago and when I received the item I noticed that this not real one it's aunthetic club.First the red grip is not the standard one they using skinny grip, second the headcover is big black color and the wording on it say's STUDID not STUDIO TYPE. Now i'm noticing the putter start showing the dings. I'm NOT happy with this putter.

What a great looking putter. The classic cameron lines, the soft feel from the teryllium insert and knowing that Tiger Woods used it to win his first major. It sits perfect and seems to have more weight to it which makes it easy to stroke. the Longneck is just gorgeous.
