Scotty Cameron Newport Blacxk Oxide finish

This is one of the first putters Scotty Cameron created for Titleist in 1995-1997. The originals were done with a gun blue/black oxide finish. While these putters are not particularly rare, they are very much in demand by golfers and my collectors. Many of them have been refinished by either Titleist (you'll typically see a number or letter stamped in them at the bottom of the shaft in the metal of the neck) or Scotty Cameron and they'll look like new.
However, examples that have not been refinished, and better yet, are truly new with plastic on the grip, are now becoming collector's items. A refinished putter can typically be identified by looking for what is called "mill chatter" on the sole of the putter. Mill chatter is sort of a very mechanically derived marks in the metal. Instead of the metal looking perfectly smooth, you'll see little "waves" in the metal.
You might be lucky enough to find a black oxide Newport with 350/33 markings on it, designating a 350 gram head weight (330 grams is standard) and a 33 inch length. These are very much in demand. A mint original, unrefinished version may sell for $800-$1000 if you can find one, as they were fairly rare.
