I have the 983K in my bag as a 2nd driver to my 905T. I'm late for my tee time, no time to loosen up, warm up or even eat breakfast, and just drove 40 miles to the course. It's 50* with a 15-18mph wind. I feel tight like the tinman in the Wizard of Oz and it's my turn...Ok..."I need a safe start, just get me beyond the lady's tees for God Sakes". All I had to offer was a weak, slow 3/4 swing, but had acceleration at impact. My swing felt lazy, like an old man. What I got in return was beyond what I deserved in that situation. The flight was a mid-strong with respectable carry that didn't equate to those who stood there watching a slow, restricted swing resulting in a visual pleasing drive. THE DESIGN - Classic Titleist that still cannot be matched by others. You can have the black glossy finish that will reflect sunlight with glare like a bright star. IMPACT - Not as solid-persimmon feeling as the 975d or j. Kinda difficult for me to know where exactly the ball made contact with the face, which tells me that there is a sweetspot that's generous. SOUND at IMPACT - is a deep 'POP' that kinda bugs me, sounds kinda flat. The FLIGHT - If you lay back on the drive, you will still reap good carry and distance for what you put into it in the first place, and when you are loosened up and start to generate some MPH in your swing speed, the shaft will accomodate in a positive fashion. The FLIGHT will be more of a Med-High with authority, not a pop up FAA flight approval required trajectory. I did have worries that all I would get would be a all height, no distance trajectory with this 10.5* but, I am dead wrong here. Yes, this model does produce roll once on the fairway. FORGIVENESS - Fades are kept within tolorances without going bananas on you, or major distance penalties. If you tighten up and turn the clubface in at impact, expect still a flight, better than expected results. DISTANCE - Very respectable and quite scary at times. I would consider the feedback as Longer than most. Into the wind? This driver will still bore through the wall of wind, and I would regard this to be one of the best aspects of this model combination. RECOMMENDATIONS - This is an excellent driver. Although this is not my primary driver, having this little shotgun makes up ten fold than having a 4th wedge in the bag. FINAL COMMENT - Shafts makes the difference. I cannot afford a $100 + shaft but, for the cost vs. results? I got my pennies worth.
