  Odd shape...but, who cares?

During my 20 year golf playing, I must have changed my driver more than a dozen times. Compared to my iron plays, I have always been dissatisfied with my inconsistent driving. This new 907 D1 driver from Titleist is the answer to my problem. The first day I used it, I hit 13 out of 14 fairways (Wow!! First time ever in my life!). I am not kidding. It goes straight and long! Some of the miss hits found the fairways. Those miss hits with my previous drivers would have been a wicked slice into the rough. Over 10 rounds since then, I do not have any complaint. One key thing is to get fitted with the right shaft for I got a better results after reshafting to Fujikura 757 from Aldila By You shaft.

The triangular shape felt a little odd at first. But, who cares really? Percentage of my second shots in play is way up there and I am enjoying golf more than ever. Like many, I do not have enough time to hit the practice range to keep my skill sharp. Under the circumstances, this club is by far best purchase I have made for a driver in a long while.

Titliest 907D1 Driver is a solid feeling club.
Review created: 10/05/07

The 907D1 design lives up to its billing as a solid feeling driver with great penetrating flight characteristics. Unlike many of the new "odd" shaped drivers, Titleist has retained somewhat a traditional shape albeit a triangular cross section. The impact sound though is different than traditional titanium drivers. Distance and control are great, I just didn't like the sound at impact. I elected to go to the 907D2, with a traditional shape and 'ping' at impact. Since both hit about the same distance for me (230-250 yards) I kept the D2.

  Great Balance and Exception Length
Review created: 09/21/07

I Have used a very large number of drivers during my 15 years playing golf. Straight out of the box this felt like a weapon and performed like one. The club has great balance and was a club with great playability and exceptional lenght and direction.

Callaway had always been my first choice, however this has really swayed my judgement. I have changed from callaway irons to titleist irons, now in search of what can only be described as a more pure feel this manufacture offers.

Enjoy The Club

  4th Rewrite - 907 D1 w/DVS 55 R Whoa...What a Combo
Review created: 10/08/08(updated 09/25/09)
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

Coming off of the 905T & 983K I took a leap of faith towards the D1.

Since, there's only 2 models to move up to...the D2 head just looked too round, almost like the TSI Ping. If I was moving up to a 460cc I wanted to avoid the bulky over-rounded shaped of a balloon.

The sleek-shaped profile was what I was looking for...it is not overly-flat and wide like the TM Burner & HiBore...The overall shape still says "Titleist" and yes...the shape of the head was a big concern for me. (Revised 3/19/09) I need to warn you potential buyer out there...Once you have made the adjustment of the shape, and size of the head, all other heads, including 909s, Burners & even the D2s will just look..."Cramped" "Too Round" "Compacted Face" almost like going back to the 975d...this is a very strange experience that I was dealing with (trying out the newer models for this year)...Sure, the head of the D1 is massive in its own character, however, there is comfort in the presentation of the head.

The SHAFT - (Updated Review 9/26/09) After going thru the Proto 65s, Fujikura 26.3s, YS-6r, now I have installed the DVS 55 R. I first bought the Pink shaft to just try it out on a 10.5* head...for $18 you cannot beat it...Pink...ye I know, however this shaft performs! Swing Easy, and the loft keeps the ball on a good trajectory, let it rip and the flight has a nice arc and distance... So much so, I bought a 2nd and installed it on my 9.5* D1 head (Rootbeer Color) and I enjoy both of them.

The DVR 55 R can accomodate my swing in every fashion...from the ultra slow drive just to place the ball at the corner of the dogleg or unleashing it...this line of shaft has shown me that there is much joy in having this...go ahead and pay $200 for a shaft...

The Impact - (Revised 3/19/09) I tried the 909, TM Burner & I tell ya what...there is nothing like the feel of the 907 d1...Very dissapointed in the 909s...The sweetspot is h-u-g-e my friends...some will say, such large sweetspot will only cause the quality of your swing to get sloppy perhaps but, on the other side, if your having a real bad day in the driving department, this is the cure for those type of days. This is just one reason that I went with the D1, rather than a workable D2. All I ask, is to "Just get me down the fairway & I can handle the rest".

The Sound at Impact - The sound is deep. Not overly loud, but respectable in tone.

Workability - If your going to try to draw...nope...you might as well try hitting the ball on the toe end of the face to create a draw...The strongest suite, is the straight and fade.

Learning Curve for this driver? - You will need to tee the ball up high due, to the higher sweetspot on the driver. Overall, None...its like swinging an old friend from the get go...

Final note - I cannot emphesize enough, the conditioning that occurs once you get used to the shape of the 907D1. The major drawback that I have now found, and have to deal with, is that all other heads are too compact for my comfort.

(9-26-09) I have installed many shafts with this model...at first I was really worried about the soft metal of the hosel...I have my ways around this and this is no longer a concern in changing gears...I have tried the D2 model, and I just cannot find comfort in it...I have a feeling that Titleist may not go back to the shape that I have come to appreciate...and this is a shame...so, for now, I guess I will have to stock up. Thnx

great club, huge head, if you miss the ball with this club you should take up tennis.
This club has great feel, I have owned lots of drivers but this one feels good.
I am a 7 handicap and i have a swing speed of 115mph+. I can hit a draw with club with no problem, and with a little bit of casting of my hands i can hit a cut. I have been able so far to put it about 295 on a regular drive, and as far as 325. I feel like i don't have o swing as hard to get the ball out there.
Good club for double digit handicapers.

Titleist Drivers are a Superior Golf Product
Review created: 09/01/08

The Titleist 907D1 driver is a superior golf product. I have always used Titleist drivers/woods and find them to be a product that delivers great control of the golf ball. The driver looks and feels awesome! I have tried many different drivers and have always returned to the quality performance of Titleist. There is no better combination than the Titleist drivers/woods and the ProV1 or ProV1x. I have been playing golf for 41 years and find that the 907D1 driver is the very best overall performing product in the industry. Lastly, this seller was extremely reliable and responsive. The product description was "right on."

I have used a number of drivers from different brands and mostly smaller head versions. This club creates a whole new dimension in striking the golf ball. My best drive got better and my off center hits which I am used to looking for off of the fairway is now still on the golf course. Awesome driver.

The 907 D1 driver is designed with 100% larger sweetspot than previous drivers. every tee shot stays in play with even a marginal swing plane. I know, since my swing plane is said to be as marginal as they come!

I just finished a review of the titleist 695cb's,great irons, and also switched to the D1 driver, from callaway equipment. The D1 is a very forgiving and long driver, more than my fusion ft3.It looks good at address and makes you feel more confidant,it goes where you aim it.A good solid driver for any handicapper.

  Looking Great!
Review created: 04/13/08
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This is the best and easiest Titleist Driver I ever owned.
Before, I liked 904T with Diamana Blue 73S the best and did not like 904R with Speeder 757 as it feels so hard.
I like D2 Driver with the new stock Diamana shaft a lot, too.

These D1, D2 are both good to hit a nice little draw, which I need for a long drive. Both 10.5 and 9.5 are modestly lofetd and can hit both high and low shots if you need.
I also has D2 with Fujikura but it hooks a ball a little too much.

The cost was reasonable, good communication and product was as described. This person has 100% rating which he lived up to. The shipping was a bit more than I am use to paying, however, I realize it is international and cost more. The overall transaction was very good and I recommend this seller as good to do buisness with.

Most of the reviews I read said that they gained distance compared to their old driver. This was not the case for me. I lost probably 20 yards. It is fairly easy club to hit but just didn't have the pop I expected.

Long and Straight down the middle.
Review created: 06/12/09
by:

I bought this driver because of price and because it had the shaft that I was looking for. I have never had a driver that was as consistant as this one is. I found that despite everything it truely comes down to the shaft when you are talking about drivers. There is something to be said for the head, but without the proper shaft you may as well swing a wet noodle! I have finally found the combination of head and shaft that fits me best. Thant sounds funny, huh?
Anyway, Titleist is the leader in golf for many reasons and this one is definitely on that list. The off-center hits still travel a country mile and it looks appealing at address. You will be impressed with the quality of the club and the sound it makes on a flush hit will make you want to cry.....
All in all the guy at Titleist have themselves a winner in this club and have converted a lifelong Taylormade guy into a Titleist guy!!!!
Great Job!

  Great driver (Titleist 907 D1)
Review created: 06/11/09
by:

I have been using Titleist Driver starting from 975D, 975L FE, and 905R.
I was pretty happy with 905R performance, but when I found this 907 D1 with same loft (8.5 deg) and same shaft (Fujikura Speeder Stiff), I placed a bid immediately and won this club.
907 D1 has some odd shape of club head, but I did not feel anything wrong when I first set up my address.
This club gives me same distance, bit higher trajectory than 905R, a lot better off center hit.
I think I hit more fairway than 905R and get couple of stroke better.
I recommend many people of this club if the latest Titleist 909 is too expensive to buy.
