I decided to try these irons as I was unhappy with my Ping G5's after a 18 months with them. I was looking through an older copy of Golf magazine and went to their game improvement iron test and these irons won it over some big guns, X20's, Rapture's, R7's, MX25's. Not only that, but 4 of the testers bought sets of these with their "mad" money they earned for the testing they did.
I'd been very happy with my Titleist Vokey wedges and decided that it was time to try a full set of their products. I opted for a new set with a good "buy it now" price on eBay.
I got them and was pleasantly surprised at how well they felt right away at the range. Set up was very simple with just the right amount of offset. On the course that day I had never played so well with a new set of irons. There was virtually no adjustment period at all. My old 4 and 5 irons were pretty much dust collectors in the garage and replaced with hybrids. The 775 long irons are now in my bag and I have confidence in them which I haven't had for years. The lofts are a bit stronger than standard but I have gained a full club on each iron over my last two sets, even though the Golf mag. article said that "distance and long iron help aren't it's forte". Sure was in my case.
I waited to write this review till I had a dozen rounds in to make sure the newness didn't wear off and change my opinion, as I wanted to proclaim my joy right away.
The short irons accuracy amazes me every time, they just seem to hunt the flag with a quick set up and fire with confidence method that I hadn't used in years! I was a little bit afraid of the "forged" word in their title as I'm a 10-12 handicap and thought I wasn't good enough to play them. No matter what the material used to make them they are sweet!
So if your looking to freshen up your iron game, and are tired of wasting your long, straight drives as I was,try a set of these 775's. Used sets seem to be pretty cheap compared to what the big dogs go for on eBay.
GOOD LUCK!
