I tried this club (19* stiff)in a golf shop, and used it to hit into their practice net several times. It felt like I was hitting it well enough to find it used on EBAY and purchase it. Unfortunately, my experience in the golf shop did not transfer out to the golf course. I am a 12-15 handicap (good to average) golfer, and I just wasn't able to consistently get good results from using the 503H as a replacement for my long irons. Off center hits were less than forgiving, and solid shots tended to fade/slice. I have subsequently replaced it with a Callaway #2 Heavenwood (17* stiff) which I have had more success with. I find that swinging a bit slower with any hybrid is an important key to getting a straighter ball flight. (At least for me) Hope that helps!

Very easy to hit from anywhere on the course. Great out of the rough. Goes a long way. Great rescue club out of fairway bunkers. Flies high and lands soft. I was having trouble with my consistency using a 2 iron and this fits the bill perfectly.

  Good club for better player

This club is definitely for the better player...My index is a 8-10 with a draw ball-flight and I struggle with keeping the ball from going left with this club. Not easy to work the ball either (hitting a fade) and club weight is very light (I would suggest putting a couple strips of lead tape on the bottom sole to add weight). Overall though it is a good quality club that has replaced my 5-wood (215-235 yard distance).

This club is the only hybrid that received a Golf Digest rating of 100.0 compared to all other manufactures. I bought a 19* and 22* and tossed my 3 and 4 irons. This club originally sold like hot cakes for $199.

great club good feel. works well on the long par 3s. way better than having to force a long iron and hoping it stops on the green. gets the ball in the air and softly on the green. also is great out of the rough

  A club that works.

I'm a 8 handicap and trying to cut a few strokes off my game - say go from a 82 to a 79. I played with 2 great golfers a few weeks ago, a .5 and a 2.3 handicap. Both used utility clubs for layup shots on par 5s, chipping from just off the green and teeing off on short par 4s. The .5 shot 74, the 2.3 shot 77, and I had a 82. Looking back, it appeared to me there was only a few areas where they saved strokes from me and I narrowed it down to the above. I simply didn't have a club that could do all those things. So, I bought this Titleist 503H fairway wood for about $50. It was a demo but when it arrived, it appeared to have never been hit - it still had the plastic wrapping on the grip and hitting end. The only negative was it had DEMO across the brand new grip so I covered it with black electrical tape. Works great now and I saved about $150.

I loved the look of the club at address. It looks powerful and easy to hit. The Titleist name alone assures it is a quality product. I give it a 4/5 due to the fact that you must be a pretty good ball striker to use this hybrid. Unlike other hybrid fairway clubs, the Titleist plays more like a 5 iron with the distance of a 2 or 3 iron.

Ball striking has a softer feel than a long iron, with a more penetrating ball flight. Solid, center contact is rewarded.

This club is for those who like the feel of hitting their long irons, but still want the forgiveness of a hybrid. I bought this club after playing with our club pro that plays this club. It takes the necessity of fairway wood out of your bag. I would highly recommend this club to anyone.

It's easy to hit straight with resonable length filling just the need for me to hit narrow fairways, avoid OB hazzards etc. and provide an alternative to my 3 wood and driver. I decided to buy this because my game needs it.

This is good club. I was looking for something that could be similar to a 2 iron. This is it. I was a little disappointed that the clubhead was so light weight. I was expecting it to be a bit heavier than it is. I feel that more weight at the club head would allow for more thump on the ball from subjective lies. Overall I am pleased with this product.

I bought the 503 H as an alternative to using my 3 or 4 irons. This club has replaced those, as it is easier to hit.

This a very nice hybrid golf club. I like the club from a visual standpoint and it is pretty easy to hit as well. I find the distance and accuracy I get out of this club well above what I would get of a normal 3 iron. I bought the club to replace my 3 or 4 iron and after using this club I will never use my 3 or 4 iron again. I don't have anything bad to say about this club. The only time I don't hit a good shot with this club is when I make a bad swing. I highly recommend this hybrid.

  GREAT BUY

The club offers great versatility from striking it off the tee or simply approaching off the fairway. I get about 225 yards off the tee and about 210 yards off the fairway. It is an easy club for long iron hitters and it also has more forgiveness than a regular iron, hence, catering to fairway wood players. I highly recommend purchasing this club; the first time I ever hit this iron, I borrowed it from a guy that was noticeably hitting the ball about 220 yards off the tee consistently. When we came to this par three that measures 225 yards, I hit my three iron about 15 yards short, like I usually do. I saw him land in the bunker that was positioned more than pen high; he pushed it a little. Recognizing that he hit the ball with such distance made me want to test it. I setup with the ball a little more positioned in the front of my stance, made a solid contact and I placed my shot about 10 feet from the hole. I told him that he had just sold that club!

I should probably stick with more forgiving equipment as a mid 90's player, but I got this club on Ebay for an excellent price. I love the iron like look and feel of this club. I bought the 19 degree that I can muscle 225 yards, but this club is so much more effective at 175 yards with a 3/4 swing. I bought this club for the long par 3's on my home course but have noticed that I use it on short par 4 tee boxes as well as fairways on the long 4's and 5's. If something happened to this club I would replace it immediately

  Titleist 503.H Hybrid Iron

I was custom fitted for this club last year but I didn't want to pay $199 for it. I decided to look on EBay. I already knew that the club was perfect for me, so I was not surprised by how well I hit it. My main reason for buying it on EBay was price. I ended up paying just 25% of the suggested retail. It is already my favorite club in my bag.

This club is outstanding! A great repacement for a 5-wood or hard to hit 2 iron. Great mid trajectory- the ball just cuts through the wind. I'm hitting this club an average of 220 yards dead strait. It is quickly becoming my favorite club.

  Beautiful Players Hybrid

One of the best looking hybrids on the market if you don't like the way most hybrids look. A little less forgiving than some of the others out there, but does the job when you hit it well. If you're a high handicapper I would choose something else.

  2005 503.h Titleist Utility club 22 degree
Review created: 08/06/06
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

For me, this club epitomizes more a rescue club more than a utility. It has a larger degree of offset than most better golfers prefer and as a draw biased golfer, it takes a moment of forthought at set up. But this club is accurate and will compliment the 585 utilities well. In a few weeks, I'm dropping my 5 wood and buying the 585h in 19 degrees to use with the 22 503h.
The 503h looks great at set up. It has more of a driving iron look than the conventional hybrid. The Aldila hybrid NV shaft in reg with low torque works well also. There is not much I don't like about this club. I previously had the Mizuno CLK in 20 degrees that I rarely used. I use the 503h at least 4/5 times a round on average.
