This movie is a great mix of history and fiction. I loved the movie the first time I saw it and now I am able to share it with my daughter so she can see a great depiction of a terrible true event. Special effects make this movie very real and the story is a timeless classic.

I love the love story about how Jack and Rose fell in love. Just tells you that money doesn't buy everything. It was sad that Jack died but Rose did the promise that was asked of her.

This B&W movie from the 50's brought back special memories of my grandmother. I saw this film with her, a survivor of the Titanic disaster. She wasn't too impressed with the film because it was about rich 1st class passengers. She, with my grandfather and dad, were in 3rd class immigrating to America from England. My dad and grandmother survived, but my grandfather was lost. I bought the film to add to my extensive collection of Titanic related items and to remember my grandmother. Seeing the movie gave me a renewed perspective on her take of the film.
Seeing Clifton Webb and Barbara Stanwyck struggle through the story makes the movie more "camp" than gripping, and there are a lot of inaccurate aspacts in the scenes, but it's still a moderately good film and a trip back to 1912 via the 1950's.

I loved the period of the film, the characters were wonderful and I totally enjoyed the storyline. I saw part of this movie on television and wasn't able to see the complete movie.

This movie starred Barbara Stanwyck and is in black and white. It was very well done and could not have been better. I also believe it is more authenic than the newer version so we enjoyed watching it very much.

Most stories of the Titanic tragedy concentrate the account in purely physical terms, focusing on the hitting of the iceberg and its eventual sinking.
The Clifton Webb-Barbara Stanwick story, concentrates on human values and the actions of men facing sure death.

This particular movie of the Titanic I find perfect. I loved the actors and more than that.
I always felt connected to that ship since I was a child. For one short minute, a profile of a man who played the part of John Jacob Astor was so like photos of him, I was spellbound.. In my mid twenties - his son Vincent Astor was my customer in communications.

I never saw his face, he was so kind. when, I no longer was at that office, he set out to find me, he was not satisfied until he did. transferred.. I could not find an apartment and told him,
well, he found one for me in a town that normally I would not be permitted to rent. that was the 1950s...His famous words in his superbly modulated voice was
"Charlie I lost you once and I will never loose you again --Dont you ever forget YOU are one of US!!! do you hear me??? You belong .. are you listening to me
--I know everything that happened to you.. and he kept track of me until his death in 1959.. You see in communications it was normal not to tell any customer that we were being transferred -- law without exception.. However - He found out everything.

I have only seen pictures of him, and therefore not only my intrigue with the Titanic and his father being lost on it. So with him. He did go to the CEO and he found me.. This DVD I purchased not only one for myself but one each as gifts for friends. It reminds me how I was truly blessed..

It was a good price and i didn't have to leave home to get it. I bought it for my mom, it was on her wish list(she dosen't do computers).
