Titan Quest Gold (PC Games, 2007)

The original game was quite good. Good graphics, enjoyable game play, relics/charms and masteries to make unique characters. It's a straight forward hack and slash game that is very liner and an ok story.
The expansion not only adds one more Act (to the originals 3 Acts) but also adds two new masteries, a new Artifact system, a place to store items for later (or transfer to another character you have), and the ability to seperate placed relic/charm. These changes really fill out the original game and make an even better experience.

At the cost of the Gold edition this is the way to go if you are buying Titan Quest for the firs time.

The down side is that you can't save your progress anywhere. You can save your character and loot, but not your progress. You have to reach the next rebirth fountian to be able to come back to that place. On the plus side they are normally pretty close together so you don't have to back track alot.
Also you are on rails, which can be a plus and a minus. It's meant to be a stright through action point A to point B game. It's a really good one at that. But in a environment where most games like it have more freedom in thier worlds, places to explore and side quests that really are out of the main quests way, you end up coming to expect more from your RPG/Action game.

But what this game aims to do it does well. And I've enjoyed both the original and the expansion.

For those of the Real time RPG (Diablo 2, Dungeon Siege) This is an outstanding game. Only problem is IronLore went out of business to early and updates are now made by the players.

If this is your format of choice Titan Quest is a must have.

Okay. I do love this game. It's interesting and you only need to use the mouse to play it. Basically. Now the secret is when your computer shuts down due to a glitch on this game, just boot back up and go into "Explore" look for the Tital Quest folder, go into there, and you'll find a backup folder. In there will be eveything you need. Copy that, and paste it into your character's folder and when you get back into the game your character will be there. Otherwise, if you don't do this, no character. You will have lost it. Now this has happened to me several times, and I've done this and it does work. It's glitch unfortunately. But other than that, I do love this RPG game.

Same basic game mechanics as other dungeons crawelers like Diablo 1 & 2. Improvement in the graphics department over most through. The colors and textures help bring the surrounds to like and prevent the environments from becoming to dark and cryptic, or light hearted and cartoony.

I would say its better than Diablo series. Very compeling and addicting gameplay. Wonderfull cenarios and a multitude of almost infinite itens to lore.
A must have to any game lover.

If your reading this before Diablo 3 comes out and you really like Diablo 2 then you will really enjoy Titan Quest. The graphics of Diablo 2 have become a bit dated and while its still a great game, Titan Quest is so very similar and does many things much better.

Things that Titan Quest does better...
-graphics, higher resolution, zooming the view
-map is much more detailed
-rag doll physics
-2 different classes are played on the same character at the same time
-no loading screens when entering/exiting structures
-magical items just pop up everywhere
-enhancements/charms can be added to most items (not just socketed)

Things Diablo 2 does better...
-randomly generating maps
-zero or next to zero bugs/glitches
-much more advanced online community

Many people will say they like Diablo 2 more and others will say they like Titan Quest more. Bottom line is they are very similar hack and slash games, Diablo 2 just being legendary and Titan Quest just being a more updated version of the genre.

The game is a typical hack and slash adventture game. Major quests with 'side quests' for experience points and loot. The more enemies you kill nad quests you complete increase your experience points to go to higher character levels which will give you a stornger/smarter/faster character and more loot to sell and purchase better weapons/armor/magic items. Most armor and weapons have 'slots' to piece together fragments of magical enhancements that add additonal functionality. Once you complete all the pieces, a bonus is also added to the armament.

The game flows quite well and the graphics are done nicely. Been working fine on my Vista 64 Dual Core 4GB memory system and have been enjoying playing the game.
