Synopsis
It's Timothy's first day of school and he's very excited. He proudly enters his classroom wearing his brand-new sunsuit (handmade for him by his mother), and carrying his new book and his new pencil. All is going well, until Timothy meets Claude, whose first words to the cheerful Timothy are "Nobody wears a sunsuit on the first day of school." Crushed, Timothy spends the rest of the day hoping that Claude will fall into a mud puddle. The next day, Timothy wears a jacket and tie to school, just like Claude had the day before, but this time Claude tells him "You're not supposed to wear party clothes on the second day of school." Timothy's week continues in this manner--until he meets Violet, a sweet classmate who proves to be the supportive friend he's been searching for all along. Watercolor illustrations accompany this story about new experiences, fitting in, and meeting the kind of friend who can make even your darkest day seem a bit brighter.
