I bought this for my grandfather who was in the battle if the bulge. He enjoyed it, he told me after all these years he can finally read about it without getting scared.

) This is the best book written about the German winter offensive in 1944. No book I have previously read compares to the work and the detail that went into this book. Charles McDonald did a wonderful job researching and writing this book. As with any great history you read, McDonald not only tells the big story, but the story of people that were swept up in it. When you finish reading this book, any other book on this subject just does not measure up.
