TIE DYED AND DEAD: Another Cozy Stain-Busting Whodunit

What's not to like about a mystery wherein the heroine wonders about '60s girl-group memorabilia showing up on eBay?
The girl group is called the Mayfair Sisters, and they're just about the most famous people ever to come out of the small town of Paradise, Ohio. Now they're reuniting for a benefit and auctioning off their costumes plus other memorabilia to raise money for the care of their mother, who has Alzheimer's.
Josie Toadfern is already busy running her successful laundromat and writing her soon-to-be-national column of stain-busting tips. But she has taken a gig on the side, performing her stain-removal magic on the Mayfair Sisters' costumes. Then three of the tie-dyed ensembles disappear, only to reappear in deadly fashion when the son of the Mayfair Sisters' original manager — who was insisting that the Mayfair Sisters would owe him 80% of the proceeds from the concert, in keeping with their original contract — is found dead in Josie's laundromat.
Now the Mayfair Sisters are in hot water, and it's up to Josie to prevent their squeaky-clean reputations from being soiled by false accusations on murder. Or are they false?
Once again, Nosy Josie tackles her sleuthing in dogged and logical fashion with the help of her good friends Cherry and Sally plus ghostly intervention from her junior-high-school home economics teacher, Mrs. Oglevee. This time there's an intriguing new man in town, too, who turns out to be the new director of Stillwater Farm, home to Josie's autistic adult cousin, Guy. But could he become so much more to Josie?
If you prefer your mysteries cozy, with more character emphasis than gore, then you'll probably enjoy Sharon Short's "Tie Dyed and Dead". The plot's a little thin, but the characters are likable and realistic. The book even includes stain-removal tips. Best of all, "Tie Dyed and Dead" is the sixth book in the Stain-Busting Mystery series, so if you like it, you've got five more treats in store. But there's enough back story included in each book that it won't confuse you to jump right in with this most recent one.

This is a Josie Toadfern, "Stain-Busting" mystery.
This year Josie has been asked to clean the costumes for the Mayfair Sisters benefit concert. The Mayfairs were a group of girl singers from the 1960's and the most famous people to come out of the small town of Paradise, Ohio, as far as 'famous' goes. The sisters have gotten back together to stage a benefit concert for their mother who has Alzheimer's. Things seem to be starting off real good, until their old manager shows up in Paradise and claims that 80% of all profits made by the sister's should go to him. Before any solution to this matter can be settled, the manager is found stabbed to death in Josie's laundromat! And to top it off, poor Josie is the number one suspect.
The plot line on this book was a little more harder to get through, but still a great read because of all the returning characters like Josie's best friends, Cherry and Sally. In fact, a subplot is Cherry planning her wedding to Deputy Dean, her long time beau. Josie does meet a handsome new man in this story and of course, Ms. Oglevee makes her usual 'spirit' appearances in Josie's dreams to help give her hints or a hard time, like in high school when she was her teacher. I found her to be harder on Josie this time than in the past. The book always includes stain tips and other cleaning ideas.
