Album Notes On TIBET, trumpeter and noted film composer Mark Isham suggests the political hardships and the spiritual fortitude of the Tibetans. The ambient "Part I" sets the mood, which is both contemplative and foreboding. "Part II" continues along this vein with its swirling keyboards and somber acoustic guitar motif. On "Part III" Isham's trumpet soliloquizes over droning keyboards, slide guitars, and Asian percussion effects. "Part IV" is even more reflective. Here, murky keyboard washes commingle with a doleful horn melody. Lastly, "Part V" uses spare keyboard colors and Tibetan prayer bowls to support a haunting spoken-word voiceover. Without a doubt, the use of the Tibetan speaker enhances the overall atmosphere of this release. The use of keyboards, percussion, voice, trumpet, and other Asian instruments captures, quite cinematically, the unique story of the Tibetan people.
