TiVo HD 180-Hours Video Recorder

I HAVE NOT EVEN OPENED THE BOX BUT I CAN SAY THAT THE DELIVERY FROM THIS MERCHANT WAS FAST AND I RATE THEM AS EXCELLENT. I ALREADY HAVE 2 OTHER TIVOS SO AM SURE THIS NEW HD TO REPLACE MY SERIES 2 WILL BE GREAT.

I've owned a ReplayTV 5500 for the last 5-6 years - loved the fact that we had a lifetime subscription and could record shows, skip commercials, etc. using over-the-air broadcasts rather than being tied to monthly cable/satellite bills. However, the recent digital TV conversion took this option away from us.

The new TiVo HD is rather expensive, but worth every penny - we upgraded to a 1TB hard drive and got a lifetime subscription. We can seamlessly record shows either in HD or non-HD (not a feature with ReplayTV). And the best thing is that a basic Netflix subscription along with our home wireless network allows us to watch movies instantly without waiting for DVDs to arrive. This TiVo unit can also be tied to your home network to view photos and home videos as well. There are a few simple games included and you can even order pizza through it.

All in all, I think it's the best purchase I've ever made!

I switched from TIVO to the local cable company when my old TIVO unit was no longer compatible with their service. It did not compare to TIVO in ease of use, responsiveness and options i.e. blocking channels.
I love my TIVO and purchased this unit with lifetime service because I don't intend to change again.
I have an older TV and did not know if it would work with the HD recorder and the seller was very helpful and helped me sort out the technical issues.

C*mcast Cable Company does not offer a DVR as part of their basic cable Package. So Tivo is really the only affordable option out there. It works great and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

I have owned a TIVO since 2003, and purchased the "Lifetime Service"(which paid for itself by the 2nd year). Life-changing TV-watching experiences followed: all positive and rewarding!Then TV went HD... My wife and I were dismayed when we realized that even with an HD television, we were left with archaic reception... So we made the financial commitment(including"Lifetime Service")and the resulting reception, clarity, recording capacity/options is INCREDIBLE!!! Why rent from your cable company monthly, when you can enjoy the BEST viewing from the leader in DVR technology, a TIVO??

Pretty much as described, appears new and was in the original box. During set up the Tivo message indicated that it may have been activated previously but there were no signs that it had been used for any length of time. Even if not "new" was better price than even reconditioned Tivo and it is working great. The shipping was a great deal at $4.99 and seller actually upgraded the shipping at his own expense for quick delivery. Overall a very good deal and because not a reconditioned Tivo did not have to purchase subscription from Tivo and saved another $90 on that purchase.

there is really only one thing I like about a transaction, and that is
no problems during or after. Except for the no surprises part which makes the whole experience sweet. This transaction was 5 sweets up :0

This is my first HD TiVo, but I have 4 other TiVos. In addition to being a great DVR, it get's You Tube and Netflix as well as other internet sites. It communicates with all the other TiVos around the house over my wireless network and it transfers programs fast so you can still skip commercials even if you watch it as it's transfering.

I tried the Cable company's DVR and it was no comparison. TiVo is light years ahead. It also has a new search (beta) that's really cool as well.
With the extender (external hard disk), I can store 91 HD hours on my DVR. What a great deal!!
