This is the first book of the series introducing us to China Bayles, burned- out lawyer turned herbalist and I will say that I am officially "hooked." After reading this book I immediately set out to obtain the entire collection. This series is based in a small town in the hill country of Texas and is just a delight. China Bayles is a woman of strength and character and certainly one you would think of a your new friend. A must read. Nelda

I recently watched a Garden Show on Public Television were writer Susan Wittig Albert was a guest. She mentioned that there were tidbits of information sprinkled throughout her books about the herbs featured in the titles of the China Bayles Series. China is the main character, a one time Houston lawyer that wants a simpler life in Central Texas. She opens a herb shop in a small town, Pecan Springs,Texas and at times her life is far from simple.
I obtained her first book in this series, Thyme of Death and after reading it I want to read the whole China Bayles series. dabrph44
