Thriller [Remaster] by Michael Jackson (Cassette, Oct-2001, Epic USA)

I failed to realize how very talented MJ was until I purchased the cassette "Thriller" thru e-bay. Unfortunately, this was after his untimely passing,I guess I let the media stories influence me to where I thought very little of his talents and abilities. Was I ever wrong! As a musician myself, I could appreciate the tunes on Thriller from an artistic point of view, from his creativity and talent. The songs were so perfectly performed, arranged, and finished in the studio that they stayed with me for days after I had listened. The quality evoked a real response not only as music, but as an emotional catalyst few numbers today would do for me.His voice never wavered, and he adds a certain something by his trademark seemingly spontaneous little he-has, and other vocal sounds which I believe very few other singers could carry off. His timing on these was perfect and also he knew when to eliminate them and do a number straight. Besides the high quality of the music, there is real feeling coming from him to his listener, as I myself experienced goose-flesh and sometimes a smile or a tear at the way he comes across on most all the musical numbers especially the centerpiece of the tape, the "Thriller" cut. When you add to this his style of movement and dance of which he was so creative, one easily realizes the tremendous talent possessed by MJ. I can only say we lost a real musical legend this summer, but he will never be forgotten for he was most definitely the Real Thing, not often seen in musicans these days or any other. I'm sorry I did not warm up to his talent earlier, but I'm catching up now, grabbing all the MJ material I can, to study his development from the Jackson Five to his solo act, I guess all there is left to say is Great Job Michael, now rest in peace. God knows you earned it.
