Three Tales of My Father's Dragon

Absolutely LOVE, all three of our kids enjoyed these books. In fact when it came time for our 4 yr. old to start our teenagers wanted to "do" the reading because they had such great memories they wanted to revisit. Written originally in the 40's the timeless story revolves around a young boy, Oscar and the baby dragon he sets out to save. He learns of the baby dragon thru a talking stray cat he helps. Oscar travels to a farway island and can only take his backpack which he fills with oranges, twine and everyday things that he puts to good use during his adventures. In the front of the book is a map of all the travels he makes which help you to figure out his adventures AND how he's going to get home.
Clearly written, just the right amount of description and dialogue, great pix both color and B&W. Lots of questions for kids to think about both logistically (how can he get from here to there?) and ethically (he wants to help but should he interfere?) It's really a wonderful series. I would have said ages from 4-9 yrs. but considering I love it myself and my teenagers are arguing over who gets to read each night, I'm not sure what age range! Just delightful, all in all a classic.
