I thought my Soul Would rise and fall
Review created: 05/06/08

Written as if the young girl in the story is keeping a diary. This book is non-fiction yet historic, but also gets to the heart and soul of what is going on in the turbulent time after the civil war. AS you read this book you experience heartache but survival. This whole series of books: Dear America, My Name is America, and American Girl is highly recommended but keep the tissue handy.

As a teacher & a parent, I have only praise for this book and other's in the series. This book tells an important story about America's past in a way that keeps children interested, gives historical information and touches the soul! A+++ Informative historical fiction, great for home and classroom. Perfect fit to go along side the American Girl series books.
