For comedy, it's ok. For cleanliness it's better than MOST comedy out there. To call itself “Christian Comedy,” however, I beg to differ! Here's a quick run down:

1. One comic relates how he was talking to his son about a woman's breast.

2. One comic used the Lord's name in vain, not once, but twice. "OMG"

3. One comic made several references to him and his wife having sex.

4. One comic told a story of how he tried to kiss a girl that didn't want to be kissed and when she asked him why he thought she wanted him to kiss her, he said because she "took off her blouse."

6. One comic makes several references to Voo Doo.

5. In the "outtakes" one comic walks up to a guy and asks him if he's ever used the Lord's name in vain, when they guy replies that he's not sure, the comic kicks him and the guy utters a profanity; which is bleeped out but it is obvious what he said.

If you are a true Christian who hungers and thirst for righteousness, you will not agree with the DVD claiming to be "Christian". If you're a Sunday-only or holiday-only Christian, you'll see no problem with the above mentioned material and call me a zealot... thank you! Evidently none of the reviewers I've read including mainstream Christian reviews sees any problem with the material contained in this DVD carrying the name "Christian." No wonder why Rick Warren is so popular. Tis a shame!

I wonder whatever happened to the pursuit of holiness?

So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth. REVELATION 3:16

We first rented this DVD at The Movie Gallery and enjoyed it so much we decided to buy it. My children and grandchildren have also found it to be very enjoyable. We enjoyed the Taylor Mason segement of the program so much that we have also purchased Two DVDs of just him on the "Bananas" show.

  Thou Shalt Laugh...Not Really

I bought this because I kept hearing commercials about it on a local radio station. It was produced by the same people as Blue Collar Comedy Tour, which my family really enjoys. The only drawback there is not so family oriented content at times. I thought this one would be good, clean entertainment for my family. It was clean, but not very entertaining. In the entire DVD, I laughed less than 10 times. It just wasn't funny. I was truly a disappointment. The least funny comedian in the whole show was the host (some chick from Everybody Loves Raymond). I wouldn't bother buying this one. I wouldn't even bother renting it at the video store. It would be a complete waste of your money.

This show is extremely funny. It is also one that I would sit and watch with my children. If you like comedy, this is the way to go.

Most secular comedians can use humor that is perhaps inappropriate for some listeners. This comedy demonstrates that you can have humor without going into arenas that are a little less appropriate for children and others.

This is great comedy you're going to want to share.
I personally bought it because I love Michael Jr.'s piece, along with Jeff Alan, but the whole dvd is good. If you're hesitant....just type in Michael Jr. on Youtube and watch a little---he's hilarious. And Jeff Alan's "Happy wife, Happy life" bit is priceless.

If you love comedy but are not a fan of the swearing or vulgar contents that are so common place in today's comedy this is for you. Removing the shock value from comedy challenges the presenter to make their stand up more relevant, clever and edgy without the standard fall backs of heavy sexual content or foul language. I thought the comics were very entertaining and the show was family friendly and I would not worry about any of the content of the comedians if children were present. I would highly recommend this DVD not only to Christian adults and families but to anyone who likes comedy but is tired of how vulgar it has become.

Good, clean humor, 7 comedians, comedy club style DVD

I'd seen this hilarious DVD, Thou Shalt Laugh, hosted by Everybody Loves Raymond's Patricia Heaton, at a friend's house, and decided to buy one for myself and 2 more for gifts. The seven Christian comedians use good clean humor, which I like. My favorite was the last guy, Taylor Mason, and his puppets. What a hoot! You'll never forget the pig "looking at the man." I had one slight disappointment - that it wasn't closed captioned, because we were laughing so much, we might have missed something. Like the jacket says, "Looking for funny? Your prayers have been answered." I highly recommend this comedy DVD.

Thou Shalt Laugh - Fun, Clean Family Entertainment
Review created: 03/02/07

My whole family watched this movie and have recruited many others to watch it with us. It was very refreshing. It's hard to find clean family entertainment to watch these days and I count this a blessing. Thumbs up and hopefully Hollywood will listen to families with traditional values and come out with more for us to enjoy. They said "Thou Shalt Laugh" and we did. My kids are copying bits from the show all the time.

  Clean and still funny...amazing

The humor was clean, but still funny. It was a very long production, so you definitely get your money's worth as well. There was still sarcasm, but that's a given for stand-up, but there was no cursing needed, no sexual innuendos either. Very cool vid that will make you laugh alot. Good medicine for stress.

I bought this dvd, because I rented it years ago, and loved it. Everyone needs to laugh, and this dvd delivers. There just isn't many good clean comedians out there. This series compiles them for you. I now have all three and am patiently awaiting Thou Shalt Laugh 4. I would also recoimend the bananas comedies, but they are hard to find.

This DVD Should Come with a Warning!!
Review created: 01/13/09

This was hilarious ... even my 17 year old was rolling off the sofa onto the floor! It should come with a warning, that you may laugh so hard and so long your sides may hurt. Good clean fun at its best!!

I purchased this DVD to use with my church group. I was very pleased to watch the dvd and find that it was very funny and since it was performed in a church by Christian comedians,it met all the criteria for showing to my group. I highly recommend this dvd.

Would be better named, "Thou might laugh!"
Review created: 05/14/08(updated 05/14/08)

I found this DVD rather disappointing. There are two of the comics that are incredibly funny, well worth the laughs to watch. Nonetheless, it is interesting to watch as all of the comics have moments of comedic brilliance. Thou Salt Laugh 2 was a better over all DVD, in my opinion.
