Movie Description
This odd 1963 film from Italian director Antonio Leonviola takes place in an unspecified and rather low-budget ancient world where "battle between the sexes" is a literal expression. Musclebound hunks Joe Robinson and Harry Baird star as Thor and his sidekick/slave Ubaratutu, who find themselves fighting against cruel Amazon Queen Nera (Jannin Hendy), who has imprisoned all her country's men, as well as any females who disagree with her. Thor must rescue lovely Princess Tamar (Susy Anderson), who wants to restore the crown to its true heir, her younger brother, thus allowing women to return to their rightful place: the home. Both racially insensitive and staggeringly anti-feminist, this campy beefcake movie is nevertheless undeniably entertaining as a product of its time.
