Thomas and the Magic Railroad (DVD, 2000)

This was a very strange movie. The actors lack emotion and the storyline is strange to follow. I think a better full length film could have been made about the Thomas the train characters. But.... my 3 year old son absolutly loves this movie. We have the the diesel 10 character at home and because he is the "villain" of the movie my son often puts him into "time out". It's kindof cute. I personally would give this movie a 2/5 but because my son likes it so much I am bumping it up to a 3/5 rating. I am purchasing the DVD because our VCR just broke down and we aren't planning to buy another one and all we have is the VHS version of this movie.

My Grandson is "over the top" for the Thomas and his friends series. I bought this DVD for him, thinking of it as a new addition to the set. Well....it just doesn't belong. This story mixes the familiar animated trains with live action. I was curious to see how they blended the two, and the answer is--not very well. It just jumps awkwardly back and forth through the entire movie. I could read my Grandson's mind---"What are all these PEOPLE doing in my movie?"
Bottom line, it's confusing for the very young, and too silly for older children.

Ihad this movie, but it got played so much it quit playing, my grandsons just love Thomas The Train, and will sit and watch this over and over, I actually enjoy it to. The seller was awesome, and the service was fantastic.

My little boy (3) loves Thomas and he loved this movie. He sat through the entire movie and never took his eyes off the screen. Great for the family, as well.

WE PURCHASED THIS FOR OUR TRAIN AND THOMAS ENTHUSIASTIC 4 YEAR OLD. THOMAS IS THE ULTIMATE AND HE JUST LOVES THIS. WHAT MAKES IT A NEAT MOVIE IS THE REAL PEOPLE IN IT. IT PUTS A WHOLE NEW SPIN ON THOMAS. MY DAUGHTER AND MY OLDEST SON DO NOT CARE FOR THOMAS TOO MUCH AND I CAUGHT THEM BOTH TOTALLY ENGROSSED IN THE MOVIE AND LAUGHING QUITE A BIT AT THE HUMOR. NOW THAT SAYS IT ALL WHEN YOU CAN BUY A MOVIE AND THE WHOLE FAMILY ENJOYS IT.

My son absolutely loves this movie. He is big into Thomas the train, and although he is only 2, he watchs this movie religiously. I find the movie to be rather silly but it's not for me, it's for my son. They did a great job with combining the real and unreal. It is obviously not an academy award winning movie, but it my son's eyes it should have swept the oscars.

Ii bought it for my son who loves the movie. I had seen it before and it is a good show, with real people as actors instead of the figurines that you see in the rest of the Thomas the Train movies (makes it more tolerable for parents).

I liked the movie because my son does. He loves trains and enjoyed seeing them in action. I also liked that him toaught him manners, like saying "please" and "thank you." The only thing I disliked was that the mouths on the trains didn't move but they had great facial expressions. Thanks to this movie, my son can now say,"gold-dust", "Pinchy", "Thomas", and "train." I recommend it for all those little toddler train lovers out there!

my daughter liked it because it has thomas adn all of his friend on it. we had one before and my sisters little boy likes it too. so we gave him my daughters and just bought another one.

My first son received this as a Christmas gift when he was 2 years old. From that day on he became a Thomas freak! My son is now 7 and still loves the movie. My other son is 3 and although he's not quite the train freak as his brother, he's very content to sit and watch this movie. Would recommend for all those that love Thomas.

This movie was a favorite of my children for many years, unfortunately vhs tapes wear out after many hours of viewing. I bought this dvd to replace this classic movie for my younger children to view and enjoy hopefully for many years to come.

Wow... We had to upgrade our copy of the movie...Okay - The VHS in now out and our new DVD will be well used. Watchout... Because the movie theme song is catchy, so catchy it might be in your head all day...HAHA...

My little man is a huge Thomas fan and I remember watching Shining Time Station on PBS so I thought that this movie would interest him and I both. I have to say that he was very disinterested and did not even watch more than 5 minutes of it. For my son there were too many actual people and not enough Thomas and for me it was nothing like the show that used to come on PBS when I was younger.

I think this is the bext Thomas the tank engine movie. My son loves the action and excitement. The thomas series overall is a positive influence on my children. I would suggest this movie for any kid that likes Thomas.

This is my 3rd time buying this movie my son has watched it so many times that the other two are scratched and worn out! I favorite to put on before nap or bed time!

I got the movie for my older boy when he was three. It got lost in a move and I been trying to find it for years when I fond it on e-bay I just had to buy it again.
I got the movie this time for my younger boy but it turns out all three of my kids love it.
They want to watch that movie all the time.
I love it cause it a great movie that brings the family together.
