Very good read

Like another reviewer, I had trouble getting into this book at first. Part One is told in the present time (for the narrator) looking back, and I had difficulty following it--in fact, it took several months of putting the book down and picking it back up for me to read those first 23 pages. However, I started enjoying the read much more in Part Two, where it goes back to the beginning to tell the whole story. I did find that I had to go back and re-read portions of Part One to understand later references.
Once I grasped the concept of the way the story was being told, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Although it is a work of fiction, it helped me better understand the plight of the Native Americans. Frazier's views on politics and the way of life during Civil War times was interesting, too.
