The Thing by Original Soundtrack (CD, Apr-1991, Varese Sarabande USA)

IMO the most disturbing soundtrack in horror world. If you've never seen the movie I suggest you watch it first. Then get your hands on this soundtrack. Composed by Ennio Moricone, it was brilliantly composed. With every sound Ennio marked his status with this soundtrack. I can just remember the opening theme which is the most recognized horror opening to true cult classic enthusiants. The "heart beats" sound enlighting the listner, the vived view of the cold artic was simply a chilling feeling. That is all this soundtrack is; chilling, sad, psychological, and mind-blowing. My number one(1) choice in selecting a soundtrack that represents HORROR sound.

This CD is out-of-print now. You can get your's if you search ebay for a while. They show up once in a while. Be willing to spend atleast $70 or more US. It's very rare now and when it pops up, those who are knowledgable on it will jump on this cd. I have my own copy which will never leave me. Simply amazing soundtrack...

PERHAPS,NOT PER-SE,"WORTH" THE PRICE IT COMMANDS;DUE TO THE RARITY OF THE AVAILABITY/APPEARANCE OF THIS ITEM ON EBAY,EITHER EXPCECT TO PAY $$$$$ TO JOIN THE THING SOUNDTRACK CLUB, OR WAIT/SEARCH INDEFINETLY TO EVEN APPROACH THE LUCKY EXAMPLE ABOVE. SOME TRACKS ON THIS CD ARE STELLAR! ESPECIALLY,"THE MAIN THEME". OTHERS,NOT NECESSARILY SO. BUT ALL IN ALL,WHEN THE SOUND-CRAFTING TECHNOLOGY OF THE TIME IS TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION,ENNIO MORRICONE DID INDEED DO AN AMAZING JOB! PERHAPS IT'S BEST LEFT TO ENJOY THE SONIC IMPACT THE WAY IT WAS ORIGINALLY INTENDED TO BE,ACCOMPANIED BY THE VISUALS OF THE ACTUAL MOVIE! ONLY THE MOST RABID OF "THE THING" FANS NEED APPLY TO THE CD SOUNDTRACK OF SAID MOVIE. I MYSELF,JUST HAPPEN TO BE ONE OF THOSE "GLUTTONS FOR PUNISHMENT"!
