The Thief And The Cobbler (DVD, 2006)

I love this movie! I purchased this movie for my brother when he was in elementary school and he is 18 and called me and asked me about this movie!!! I had to get this movie for him again, this time on DVD. Every child will love this movie!!!! They will remember it for the rest of their life!!

I bought this dvd on eBay because my 9-year old daughter wanted it. She read the book in school and saw a preview for the movie on another dvd. Unfortunately, the dvd was out of print. I knew I would be able to find it on eBay. The movie itself was pretty decent. It has an animation style similar to 1960's pop art (Peter Max, Beatle's Yellow Submarine, etc.). Some people used to Disney or Pixar animation might find it tedious, but I found it to be a refreshing change of pace.

Before there was Aladin, there was Tack; a simple cobbler who's one action would save the Golden City of Bahgdad. This delightful story is both a visual achievement with it's beautifully hand drawn animation and a treasure among tales which a person of any age could enjoy.
The only disappointment I personally had with the dvd was there was nothing extra on it about how the project first came to be since the story of how it firsst started in 1964 is pretty amazing. The film itself is simply breathtaking though and the DVD is worth that much just for the beauty of it.
So if you fell in love with Aladin, you'll surely love The Theif and the Cobbler till the end of your days.

I have always loved this DVD. I watched it when it came on VHS and have wanted it forever. The story s really good and the chracters are hilarious. I recommend this DVD to anyone who likes comedy and serious at once.
