Then & Now - Still Rockin'
Let me qualify this by saying that I am a huge Who fan. Always have been, always will be. That said, there is really only one reason to buy this CD - two new songs: "Real Good Looking Boy" - a great but typical Pete Townshend song - and "Old Red Wine". Both songs fit oddly well on a Greatest Hits type collection, sounding every bit like The Who at their best. These songs could easily have been a part of Face Dances, or Who's Next, or nearly any other Who CD. Sadly, it's a new line-up on these tunes, featuring Zak Starkey on drums, Greg Lake on Bass for "Real Good Looking Boy" and Pino Paladino on "Old Red Wine." (Better help couldn't be found? ;) The boys sound great, though nothing earth shattering here. A great stroll down memory lane, though, that will get you digging out Odds'n'Sods...heck, digging out the whole collection...to show the kids and grandkids what REAL rock and roll sounded like!
