Your soul will sing as you read this book!
If you like old hymns, you'll love this book and its companion (there are two volumes). Old hymns stir up something deep in me that I really can't define. But it's there, and it's real. Robert Morgan has done a lot of research, and each hymn is presented with words, music, and background. It's the background that gives life to the book. Many hymns have come out of tragedy, struggles, and pain, and knowing a little bit about the hymnwriter's life gives a depth and poignancy to the words and music of the hymns they have written. This is a very readable (and "singable") book, and old, familiar hymns will take on a new dimension as you discover the spiritual atmosphere from which they were written. For me, this rich history helps define and explain the inner stirring that accompanies the singing of many of these hymns. Take a look. Have a sing. I think you'll really like what you find.
