The X-Files - Ultimate Collection (DVD, 2007, 61-Disc Set)

This product, according to Fox, gathers together all nine seasons, the film, and the Mythology Threads featurettes off the Mythology collections. The nine seasons are thankfully in the original release format, with all special features included. The feature film appears to have the same contents as the current DVD release as well. As for the featurettes, they appear on a disc of their own.

For a box set this big (61 discs), it's priced fairly reasonably as opposed to the 9-season collection that can be found elsewhere on Amazon. However, Fox needs to make sure this is the last time they re-dip the series; maybe they should release it on Blu-Ray to make the HD fanboys happy.

Be warned: if you bought the initial season-by-season releases (not the slimpaks) and the movie separately, there's nothing new here. The featurettes on the last disc are also nothing new, as they appeared on the pointless Mythology arc sets that were released on DVD a while back. However, for anyone new to the series or anyone who's been hesitating to buy the series on DVD, this is a great pickup for its price.

I LOVE the series and wanted more than to just watch random episodes on TNT and SciFi, etc. I also wanted all the episodes and did NOT want to buy the seasons piece-meal, one-by-one. By buying a complete set, I saved money over individual seasons and this item was perfect. As for CONTENT...what can I say? They're the X-Files...superb!

This is an AMAZING collectors set! Comes with all 9 seasons, plus the fight the future movie, plus the mythologies mini series plus a poster, cards, and a minibook with short descriptions of each episode. And its all wrapped up in a very cool box. Definately a must have for any fan!!!

Love the X Files, watched it from the beginning. Bought it because it's great to be able to watch from beginning to end, no commercials, and watch 2 or 3 part story episodes right in a row. Fascinating to watch the relationship between Scully and Mulder, and watch little things with other actors develope. For instance, I had forgotten Mulder's dad was a chain smoker, like the Smoking Man.
Watching Gillian Anderson evolve as Dana Scully is a pleasure, Anderson got better and better as an actress as the series moved along. She's the character that makes it all believeable, in that scary "are there UFOs and aliens, or is it the Government, or is it both?" world. Trust no one. Buy this set, have no regrets.

As a massive X-Files junkie in the late 90's and early 00's, I hel out hope that they would finally put the entire series into some sort of collective box set and decided not to buy the individual season's on DVD. I am so glad I waited ! If I had bought all 9 seasons individually it would have cost me (for the cheaper slimlines) somewhere around $ 450.00 retail. Instead I waited and paid an incredibly awesome $ 160.00 for all 9 seasons (with all bonis features!) and the movie in this box set. An incredible deal if you ask me! The box itself is really nice except the poor construction of the drawer which holds the episode guide, collector's cards, movie poster, comic book and other extra's. The DVD's are all housed in nice sturdy hardbound "books" and the episode's (normally 4 per disc) all have easily navigable menu's and are stylishly done. My only major gripe was that they did not remaster the audio and transfer it to 5.1. Otherwise and AWESOME package !

I am sure all the DVD's are great, but the box is terrible. It looks great on the outside, but it lacks functionality. The DVD's are so heavy that the cardboard case can not support their weight, and I have received 2 out of 2 that have been broken....

My husband and I love the fact that we can watch our favorite tv series without commercial interruption.

Through no fault of the seller, the DVD's were awful! Some played just fine while others vibrated my DVD player so violently that I wouldn't play them for fear it was obviously destroying my player. I'm so disappointed! Whomever FOX had make the DVD's did not use quality control. I don't know if the disks are out of round, if the center hole is not equal, or just what makes them vibrate in the player. I've purchased hundreds of DVD's and I've never had one vibrate like this. Also, the pouches the DVD's are housed in are hard cardboard and every time you take a disk in or out you scratch the DVD's. If I had to do this over again, I would NOT have purchased the complete collection. Now I'm stuck with DVD's I cannot play. What a bummer!

If you like Xfiles you WILL like this set. It is complete with editorials and a huge amount of extras. It even includes the first movie.

I bought this as a gift for my daughter, an avid X-Files fan. She was extremely pleased. We have watched a few, and the quality is excellent. It is great to have the whole collection of X-Files in one reasonably-sized package!

I bought this as a Christmas present for a huge X-phile I know, and I can't wait to see their reaction on Christmas! This box is factory sealed and looks to be in absolutely perfect condition (no scratches on the box, or even the shrink wrap for that matter. I had ordered it and within 4 days (not just business days, but days) it was already here. Great price too considering you get 9 (yes, nine) seasons of one of the best shows in the last 20 years (in my opinion). Most definitely would buy something from you again and again. This is classic sci-fi!

I never got to see the last 6 seasons and I thought if I had purchase the nine seasons, I would finally know what happens in the end. I got to see the movie just recently and I thought that after 16 years, the magic was still there. Chris Carter is a genius. He never ran out of ideas for the show's 9 year run. So much I can say about my favorite protegonists: David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. I love those two together. I think to say the least it should have been them as a couple instead of David and his wife Tea Leoni. Don't get me wrong. Tea is a great woman and his wife. But the only on screen couple I will ever know will be Scully & Mulder--forever and always. A FANTASTIC COLLECTION AND RECOMMENDED BUY FOR ALL XPHILES FANS!!

This is THE collection I have always wanted to own,however I am buying this for my cousin,he is as big a fan as I have always been. When he was a child we would terrorize him with ghost stories,and horror tales too scare him half to death. Now as a 50+ year old man if he were told that the devil was coming he would wait to see what he looked like,and maybe ask him a few questions,he fears nothing,and loves the super-natural.
