This is hands down THE best that television has to offer and is a show that is a must have for every DVD collection. Season three continues the tradition of offering the very best writing on television, artfully woven storytelling combined with skillful, thoughtful direction and beautiful, authentic and heartfelt performances. This season continues to explore the depths of the breakdown in the lower economic level of society and how the overall lack of opportunity, the breakdown of the family unit and overall neglect has effected this particular area of Baltimore. Although this particular drama looks at Baltimore in partcular it serves as a perfect example of the wide scope of detrioration that the issues the show continues to focus on have effected too many of our, once great, American communities. This show is relentless in it's pursuit of honestly portraying the effects of neglect on an entire portion of society. It is unflinchingly in it's honesty and is a perfect example of using the medium of television in the most responsible way...not only to entertain but to educate, enlighten and provoke thoughtful conversation. I was particularly impressed with the third season and cannot believe that this show continues to not gain the recognition it deserves.

I think think that this might possibly be one of the best shows ever brought to television.
The texture and layers that this series brings with are outstanding. All three seasons are well worth the investment of time and money.

Season 3 was pretty awesome. I was very disapointed how some people got "offed" on the show, but that's the way it goes in Hollywood. Make sure you watch seasons 1-3, because season 4 is on totally different level.

The most authentic and down to earth of any series I've watched. Series 1-3 are all excellent. My biggest fear is that this series will end in the near future as it gives so much to the learning process. It will be a shame when it ends.

The Wire is smart, well written, gritty, exciting.....what can I say? I love this show. However, it is not a show where you sit down and catch one episode. The plot is very detailed, and the story and characters build on previous episodes. The best way to watch it is to buy the DVD sets, and watch the series in order. My wife and I love to watch it together. We find ourselves discussing the show during the day, and wondering what will happen next. I can't wait until season 4 is released on DVD.

I thought I was buying an orginal version of "The Wire" season three. It turned out to be a copy of someones original (bootleg) and it is missing episodes from the season that add up to about one missing dics. Really disappointed. Don't advertise the real deal when its not!

Great series fans of shows like Nypd blue and homicide should check it out. Stories are told over several years and just like life people come and go. Ground breaking story telling, see the events from more than one prospective, cops, drug dealers, even the informants take a turn in the spot light. Well worth the investment, in fact several of these sets are listed because people have gone back and purchased the complete box set that is also available.....

Great SeriesThis is the third season and it just keeps getting better. The DVD is auwsome and won't disappoint. The features are easy to access and scene serches are simple and accurate. I cannot recommend this DVD too highly. Without a doubt, The Wire is the best cop show ever produced. It's just too bad that major networks other than cable networks can't produce this kind of series.

The Wire, by far, the best crime show on television. The DVD allows the option of adding subtitles, which are often helpful in understanding the 'street' dialect of many characters. The entire series is a 'must see' for fans of the genre.

The brilliance continues! "The Wire" maintains its traditionally outstanding writing, characterization, and intensity in the third season. The story shifts back to the drug wars, with emphasis on city and police department politics as it affects street-level enforcement. The investigative detail is pulled in different directions by overlapping tensions, the Barksdale drug gang has its own internal dissension, and the police hierarchy is shaken up by the politics of crime and drugs. The story arcs of some major characters take dramatic turns. If you loved the first two seasons - and I know you did! - you won't be disappointed with the third. Set includes all 12 episodes, several with commentary tracks, and a few bonus features.

This is a great series. Ive always heard about this show, but never watched it. I receieved the first season as a gift, and Im hooked. I purchased the next 2 seasons and now I will be purchasing the final 2 seasons. im not a big TV guy but this rivals the Sopranos! Its worth your time...

I never recieved this merchandice ! I've been duped. Nothing was recieved and there have been zero responses to requests for explanations. The correction of this process is moving so slowly that the purchasing is sort of like gambling. I purchased on 9/30 and this might get corrected by 12/31 if ever. I won't be back !

The Wire Season 3I have always been a die hard Sopranos fan and didn't bother to look much beyond that show on HBO. I really caught on to The Wire during this season as it aired after the Sopranos. After going back and watching the first 2 seasons I quickly latched on to The WIre and would easily say that this is a far superior show to the Sopranos. Its rooted in reality and it shows. After watching this show I can honestly say that I have a feel for the city of Baltimore. One night I'm watching intervention and this girl is searching for crack in the run down cityscape and I said to my wife, "Thos look like the Baltimore row-houses!" A minute later it turns out I was dead on. This show deals with issues that every major city deals with; drugs, murders and the police's struggles trying to keep up with it all. If you are a fan of good TV that doesn't placate you as a viewer or try to hold your hand, please please please check out this show. You will not be disappointed.

I'm a big fan of the Wire, that's why I bought it, one of the disc's was missing so I contacted the seller and they apologized and gave a 50% refund, that's cool, but the fact still remains I haven't seen the three episodes on the disc that was missing. This is the first time that i've bought something from half.com that I've had an issue with.

The Wire is RawI must admit, I am a relatively new fan of this realistically raw series as of its last season. It's all the good things people have had to say about it and a whole lot more. HBO, if you do not bring this series back or make a series of movies you will lose out on some serious bucks the likes of which no one has ever seen.
I am buggin' out--just like Bubs on dope I have got to get another fix. This season, as with the others, continues with top shelf cutting edge writing, directing and acting. It's a perfectly genuine blend of street-life, politrics, and poe-lice work.
I suppose what really keeps me glued to each episode is the artful display of delicate yet ruggedly fluid interplay of human experiences. The situational and character driven storyline and emotions are carefully woven together like a multi-cultural, multi-sensual, multi-textured tapestry with its own uncanny ability to reflect seamlessly, the truths being played out in today's real life urban America.
In short, The Wire is a rare shimmering gem, like the stars we wonder about far above, floating over shallow seas of entertainment nothingness.
