THE BEATLES (generally known as "The White Album" because of its cover) was a sprawling two-record set, highlighting the distinct personalities in the group as they matured and moved further away from each other. With the four Beatles playing like session men on each other's songs, the making of the album was fraught with tension. John Lennon's songs included a bitter take on people who read too much into the Beatles' lyrics ("Glass Onion"), reflections on loneliness and alienation ("Yer Blues," "I'm So Tired"), and the avant garde sound collage "Revolution 9."
George Harrison's songs offered black humor ("Piggies") and tender sadness ("While My Guitar Gently Weeps," with Eric Clapton on guitar). Paul McCartney provided both light, lyric songs ("Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da," "Honey Pie"), and rockers ("Back In The U.S.S.R.," the explosive "Helter Skelter"). Ringo Starr made his solo songwriting debut with the goofy country/ska lilt of "Don't Pass Me By" and sang the album closer "Good Night."

The Beatles "White Album" 30th Anniversary Edition

It is just like the original LP from 1968, just in a smaller package. I have wanted this ever sense I saw the one my ex-girlfriend had back in 2001. Great collectors item.

      Versatile Beatles White Album

I think this is a great album by The Beatles! Versatility is the theme on this album. They one time rock out and then go to blues and then to a easy listening sound etc. Don't expect to hear 1964 type style music on this album even though there are some traces on it. I think it was a well done album and a true classic. Any Beatles fans should include this golden great in their library! Recommended!!

All selections on the album are great except for Revolution 9. Wanted this ever since it came out in vinyl, but couldn't afford it. Especially for Birthday. I like to hear this on my special day.

I'm really happy with this purchase.I paid a fair price for it and I liked what I got.I know that this is the space for a review,so here goes:Most of you reading this will already be familiar with the "White Album".The reason to get this version of it is if ,like me,you're into collectibles. The CDs are packaged like a miniature copy of the album and each CD comes housed in it's own paper sleeve just like records used to.Other neat things include digipak packaging(to resemble a cardboard album cover),embossed lettering on the front(just like the original album)and miniature reproductions of the posters and lyric sheet that came with the original record.Although I bought this used(which is probably the only way you'll find it),I was pleased to find that both discs played fine.I've never owned the traditional 2 CD set of this album because I always felt that it was too expensive. So not only did I pay a fair price on this,I also got a neat collectible to boot.I highly recommend purchasing these CDs in this format.
