What I love about Floyd is the fact that you can listen to the whole album as one entire entity. Unlike many other albums from other artists, Pink Floyd's the Wall doesn't just have one hit wonders one after another, the whole album flows together to create a masterpiece. The Wall is Floyd's best illustration of that fact, but many other albums of theirs do the same.

The Wall - Pink Floyd (CD 2000) is something you might here for the first time, and swear that you knew it before. The sound is so perfect to the ear, one cannot deny the bands place among rock and rolls greatest! The Wall - Pink Floyd (CD 2000)

I love the power and expressions that was involved in the music. I bought it because I enjoy the music of Pink Floyd and this CD has some their best.

If you're reading this, you should know enough about this LP that a synopsis of the story and/or a list of tracks would be most redundant. I wouldn't do that to ya... That being said, I'll add a tiny bit of perspective.
It was 1980...
When I was a snot-faced pre-pubescent, roaming the malls with rudimentary knowledge of classic rock and ignorant trepidation about heavy metal (Sabbath: Oooooooo!) I saw a record store (remember those?) with it's entire bay window decked out in Pink Floyd The Wall stuff. In those days (and at my age), the album was bigger-than-life. I knew what I wanted before I even KNEW what I wanted! Until then, my only exposure to Floyd was late-night radio plays of "Another Brick..." by the green light of the console radio. There were 45 and LP sleeves and promo posters just WALLPAPERING the entire display. Gerald Scarfe's renderings of the Schoolmaster, Wife and Dear ol' Mum, and the stark white wall itself.
I remember a time (and so do you) when you walked into that store to see racks and racks of shrink-wrapped 12" squares just BEGGING to be opened and have that initial meeting with the tonearm. Was it THAT long ago? It was...long enough that surviving sealed copies bring in significant green.
And to top it all off, the album was a great as the hype!
I remember tearing off the plastic of the LP and staring at the Gerald Scarfe artwork in the gatefold or the lables spinning slowly around. I wedged the white title card in the jacket and wore that album completely out. Somehow, though CDs have shrunken the bombast of music to an almost disposable medium, the CD still manages to be big (and needs to be in a double-wide jewel case-presentation counts. Record labels, take note!). As for the remaster: for those of us without $10,000 systems, it completely negates the need to plunk down $100-200 for the MFSL Ulteadisc. The EMI/Harvest edition is just fine, thanks.
That being said, I wouldn't be adverse to seeing something deluxe come out in 2009. A nice box set would help in righting a few wrongs...maybe they could include "What Shall We Do Now?," seeing as how those of us who had the vinyl know the words. How about a concert DVD from the original tour? I know some of those dates were filmed. (and releasing a concert on mere CD for such a VISUAL spectacle? Bleah!)
What we've got here is a bona-fide rock classic. A bit hard to follow the story without seeing the film. Another Brick (Part II), Comfortably Numb, Young Lust and Hey You are the classic-rock FM staples (Run Like Hell b/w Don't Leave Me Now was the second single, by the way. How do these choices get made, anyhoo?).
The long-and-short of it is that this is one of the only times that a record release was an event, and that the album remains cherished to this day. It is the excitement that youth is made of, and it cannot be replicated.

You can not put on paper the words to describe this disc anymore than you can explain to a blind man what the color blue looks like. Listen to the album and you mind will bend to the one of the greatest masterpieces ever recorded.

My mind has always loved to wonder into the world or intrisic lyrics. Pink Floyd opens up a world of inner adolesents, the rebel & fear from yester- years that we have all overcome. It's so wonderful to let David Waters take my mind on a walk... and all I have to do is close my eyes and watch the show.

I am 45. I remember being a teenager when this came out, and GOD, WE ALL LOVED IT SO MUCH!!!!That was THE CD to blare in the car, cruising down the highway. I have the original release of this cd, but hate to take it out...
That is why I bought another one.

And, here I am, 45 and STILL CRUISING down the highway. Excellent cd!!!
I do not know if the younger generation appreciates "our music", but I hope they give it a try!!!

This cd came out back when I was in elementary school and I had no clue what
the songs meant. As I got older, I listened to it more and more when I was sad-- it has some very sad songs on it.
Now, a good 20 + years after I heard it, I find it just a brilliant piece of work. Make an album about a person who went insane and the roadtrip he took to get there. A paranoid but yet poetic piece of music.
I have to say this is probably one of the best albums ( yes they were albums when they first came out) that I own.
"Run Like Hell" just is such a solid song. the drums, the guitar and the screams.
Some may not like Pink Floyd, but this cd was way ahead of its time, and it is a masterpiece

This is the Highly sought after first pressing of Pink Floyd The Wall. There has been quite a few released versions of this recording on CD, but I must say here, this is still the best one to date, here's why...
Compact disc that were manufactured in the early eighties, were basically "Flat Transfered", meaning that there was no adjustments made to the sound transfered from the master tapes, other than track separation cues, and on some CD's were not exactly on cue. If You a Collector of Rare First Pressing CD's, then You might have seen the term "Flat Transfer", as it is used quite frequently from sellers here on ebay.
When Listening to this CD set, there is the presence of inherent "hiss" or tape noise, You can slightly hear this on the Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab version, as that has been greatly reduced through "Digital Processing". The most notable Rarity found on the HARVEST CD #1 is the track "One of My Tunes" which is indeed a misprint on the label, which should have read "One of My Turns" and the editing for this particular track cue has been mastered so that after the quite passage leading into the change up, has been placed there instead of at the beginning. Maybe the guy that mastered this interpreted this as a different track? At any rate, I was truly lucky to have finally found a MINT conditioned copy and got it for a great price of $125.00. All in All this was a the missing piece "brick" to My collection "Wall" of CD's.

Pink Floyds' The Wall is a timeless classic that only gets better with age like fine wine. I started listening to this compilation when I was twelve years of age, and will continue to listen to this series of music until I am 112. This collection of classic rock will act as a mood ring to your ears.

This is one of the all time best albums ever made.The way you can tell if a album is good if it stands the test of time.The wall is 29 years old and still cost 35 bucks in the store and is hard to get a hold of need I say more!!!!!!

I love this cd. This album is great and the 2 disc makes it epic. I decided to buy it because I have heard nothing but good things about this cd and I am a pink floyd fan.

Item in near-mint condition at a great price. The item was exactly the way it was described on the auction. The shipping was inexpensive and fast.

I purchased the CD because my daughter loves the songs on The Wall. Prior to buying, I always look at feedback to give me some sort of idea on the seller. The CD was listed in a condition that was supposed to be very good; however, the one CD has a lot of marks on it and one song jumps toward the end. I contacted the seller and he told me to keep the CD and he refunded my money.

I'm sure it could have been an oversight; so I'd have to say the seller is good but the product was not.

I have always considered The Wall to be Pink Floyd's brilliant masterpiece (the DVD is also a must own for any Pink Floyd fan). The best thing about The Wall is that it covers so much territory musically. Everything from Danny Elfman Nightmare Before Christmas type songs (The Trial) to Classic Floyd (Hey You) to good old Rock N' Roll (Young Lust). There really is something for everyone here. Anybody who appreciates quality, artistic, thought provoking Rock needs to own a copy of this. 5 Huge Stars.

i had this cd when the album first came out. i wanted to give my 16 year old a taste of the past. i feel my generation received the best in music, an band's album had at least 4-7 great songs, which i use to explain why their music lives on. the bands took time to make music and make it right. not just put out a album every a couple months. today bands make music where you might find 1-2 good songs on a album. these bands are forgoten, except on NOW albums.

ebay allows me to find these great moments in my youth that other wise might just be memory. George

This is in my opinion a great Record by a Great Band... we all know Pink Floyd, but for those of you just wanting to get acquainted to the sound, or maybe give you those flashbacks of the 90's this music will do both for you! I do not see a way how you cannot enjoy this CD! I personally own the 1979 2-disc original Record, but for those of you without a recordplayer, this will give your CD Player the music its always dreamed of!

This is the best collection of Pink Floyd music out there. It tells such a great story, for the lyric lover in all of us.

i love every single thing about pink floyd and this cd is deffinatly no exception. everything is just amazing. you deffinatly need to see the movie along with it but this cd is good without even seeing the movie. pink floyd just keeps rocking years and years later. amazing cd, amazing songs, amazing work. they never disapoint!!
