Pink Floyd the Wall - Gold CD review

Too bad the company that made these gold discs is out of business. If you can find one it is worth the extra money as those with the choice toys can appreciate the cd even more.

This is considered to be a quintessential rock opera concept classic which tells the story of ' Pink ' a manic depressive rock star.

The songs flow together and some have of course become stand alone ‘ hits ‘

The story follow Pink’s life covering such topics as his mother, suicidal notions, schoolmasters, dysfunctional relationships, communism, war, music fans and beyond.

Released in 1979 as a 2 record set and followed up by the classic movie.

This cd will draw you in and take you on an emotional rollercoaster. From lows ( depression ) to highs ( excitement )and all points in between. The more I hear it the more I seem to get out of it. The lyrical genius of Roger Waters combined with the musical magic of the rest of the band never tires.

The experience is best of when listened to in it's entirety, preferably on headphones or high end equipment.

A superb piece of progressive rock.

I'm sure if you are reading this you are well aware of the album and the concept behind it. All I want to say is this M.F.S.L gold copy is by far the best sounding version I have ever heard. The dynamics are flat out startling. To listen at a high volume with equipment that is up to the task is quite an experience, with low passages that are barely audible, and crescendos that will test the best of subwoofers and power amplifiers. If you are looking for a disc that will tax the capabilities of your system, this is it! I wish they could get together one more time and do this live at Royal Albert hall, and release it on Blu-Ray like David Gilmore and his "a night to remember" concert.
P.S. If anyone has heard one of the D.T.S. versions of this album, drop me a line and give me an opinion of it. Thanks

THE WALL ( gold Disc Cd)m Pink fFoyd
Review created: 07/24/09

This is a very important edition in gold disc that give an impressive sound and details for audiophile . I have a pair of Acoustat Model 2 with an Aloia ST 200 amplifier and a valve preamplifier: Acoustic Research LS7= the resault is very impressive. I play my Cds with an Audio Analogue Maestro improved with a proper modification.

The most compelling rock-opera ever made....

I ran across this 24-kt. gold set in 1990 at a Sound Warehouse in Houston, TX. I almost didn't buy it. The regular aluminum set was $30. I said to myself, it's worth the $80 because I love it so much. I bought it and I have never regretted it. Mine is used, but today is still worth more than I paid for it.

This CD set, even the aluminum set, is a gem. I have never heard anything like it before. This CD set is a must-have for an audiophile. Also, Dark Side of the Moon, but that goes without saying.

If you are an audiophile and you have the money, go for it. You won't regret it. The sound quality is exquisite. There is nothing that compares to it.

Get it, put on your Bose headphones, put up your feet and be swept away....
