The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle (1994, Hardcover, Board)

I remember this book from my own childhood. Expecting my first child, it was one of the first books I bought! Having spent many years in college studying elementary education, I can say it has everything young children will love. Bright colors abound, the various things the caterpillar eat as the days go on always seem to amuse the children, as do the holes in the book for the foods the caterpillar eats through. At the end, children learn that this hungry, fat caterpillar has turned into a beautiful, big butterfly. A must for every child!

I thought the book might be bigger. The picture of the book that I saw on ebay made it look bigger than it actually was. Other than that, the service was fine, and it was delivered in the time frame that was promised.

The book is interactive, with little holes in the center of each item the hungry caterpillar eats. Perfect for little fingers to follow the caterpillars path! The fact this is a board book makes it toddler friendly!! At a young age, kids can lose interest in hearing the story, but I'm sure that will change. At 12-18 months, its more about the interaction! So far we love this book, and I've bought it as gifts for friends, and would recommend it!

I bought it for my Daughter because she read it at school. She totally loves it. I thought it was little small, but my daughter loves it because she can carry it everywhere she goes.

I received the book in a timely fassion and as described,pleased with the purchase. I wish I would have realized it was little and really for babies.

It's such a classic book, I remember reading in in grade school, seeing my niece reading it and now I bought it for my son. It's a beautiful, coloful and widely recognized book. Such a cute story, with unique illustrations. His other books feature that same oil painted pictures and are all good reads. I would definitely recommend to anyone with kids, girl or boy.

This book was recommended by my granddaughter's speech therapy teacher. My granddaughter loves it. this is obviously a great book and I plan to buy more from this author.

I read this book to my three sons and all three of them loved it. My youngest is 4 years old and he can read it by himself because I've been reading to him since he was a baby. I love all of Eric Carle's books!

I bought The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle for my granddaughter as a moment of her kindergarten graduation. Her class did a skit for graduation and my granddaughter was the reader. It is a very good beginner book because it not only teaches reading skills, but also counting and science. It tells how a little caterpillar eats his way to being a beautiful butterfly.

Eric Carle sure is talented writing such cute and awesome books. I rented this at the library for my then 4 month old baby and read it to him twice a day, he loved looking at the beautiful colors. Eventually we just bought one for him to keep. It is such a great story, my son loves the part when he eats all the different snacks on Saturday...it is just so cute! So whenever i see a copy at a rummage sale or the thrift shops I pick one up to give to a niece or nephew or a friends child. I highly recommend it for the little one in your life. My son is now 2 1/2 and still love it, we read it about 3 times a day.

Eric Carle wrote this delightful book 40 years ago and it's a classic! It has all the elements of a great book for young children: easy, rhythmic, repetitive text; bright colors; tactile experiences (poking tiny fingers in holes); and learning basics of days of the week, colors, names of foods, and the mysterious process of metamorphosis.

If you have a small child or grandchild, this is a must-have for your "come sit down and let's read a good book together" library! The board book version adds sturdiness and, for the very young, helps with teething!

it was a quick delivery. however, it was a lot smaller than the book i thought i was going to get, but the book was in excellent condition. I guess it was my own fault for not reading details.

Excellent book. As an elementary school teacher, I was very familiar with it before purchasing. The book I purchased was a bit smaller in size than I thought I was getting, but was a good purchase never-the-less.

This is a cute, silly and fun book that my son loves to hear over and over. The caterpillar has a great week of eating all different kind of foods.

This book is simple and very colorful. It shows the caterpillar going through his days eating his food by placing holes in the pictures of his food while also telling the story. It's a sweet way to teach about the caterpillar to butterfly cycle. Delightful!
