The Ultimate Gift (DVD, 2009, Dove O-Ring)

With the formation of 20th Century Fox's new Christian division, Fox Faith, the studio is set to launch several films aimed at a Christian audience. At the top of the pile is "The Ultimate Gift," a movie filmed two years before Abigail Breslin became a household name with "Little Miss Sunshine."

"The Ultimate Gift" follows Jason Stevens, an apathetic youth who must jump through a few hoops before receiving an inheritance left by his late, enormously wealthy grandfather. Along the way, Jason awakens from the disillusioned life he's been leading and meets a multitude of colorful characters.

"The Ultimate Gift" is so polished because it had a higher budget than most films in the inspirational genre. Sad to say, but money rules the day, and most faith films have less than $1 million dollars to work with. Apart from bludgeoning the viewer with a message while sacrificing quality scrips, filming or acting, many of these low-budget inspirational films are barely qualified TV movies.

But "The Ultimate Gift" is different. While the script does suffer from a few obvious plot holes, the film is mostly solid. Nor does it shove its message down the audience's throat. In all, a good inspirational film with Christian elements and an accomplished cast.

i saw this movie in the theaters i have not bought it yet but i LOVED it, i swear some kid fell out of his seat he was laughing so hard and yet by the end of it everyone was crying, this is a great move and one i look forward to owning.

What a fantastic and wonderful movie. I can;t say ther eis anything about this movie I did not enjoy. I read the book fist which I absolutely loved! The movie, was, for once, better than the book because it showed what he did with the money after he inherited it. It makes you think about your life and the life of your childrn and what you can do to help your children think like this young man did after completing each task. Purchased this dvd for my college-age daughter after she watched it in class. An incredibly meaningful, well-told and rare story of trials overcome to achieve triumph! Faith proving victorious - conquering every unanticipated battle of hardship and real life as we know it. Truly inspiring, family-appropriate and with the exceptional talent of James Garner playing a vividly realistic character, you just can't lose! Great gift to share - everyone has hard times, and everyone can use some hope and faith! ENJOY!

Don't miss this movie-- it is worth the time to watch, and you can't say that about too many these days.

"The Ultimate Gift" is a story of a wealthy young man who learns the meaning of life by following a set of tasks his recently deceased grandfather has set out for him, at the end of each he receives a gift. Along his way, he learns the true value of friends and hard work and gets the Ultimate Gift.

The Ultimate Gift is based on a book and I think the book would probably be better than the movie (most books are). The story definitely has a good moral, and you can relate with Jason Stevens as he goes through his spiritual journey. The movie is entertaining to watch and is one of the few family movies that you can actually feel good at the end. Overall I would recommend seeing the movie.

MY WORD! We just got done watching one of the most moving and prophetic, moving, beautifully done movies we have ever seen! Can't say enough for the wonderful acting and some of the most wonderfully stated revieled gifts we can understand. IF everyone were to watch this movie and take the things they would learn to heart it would make a huge impact on society. We want more movies in the same beauty and compassion that this was developed. Thank you!

This was the best movie I saw in 2007. Actually, it is the best movie I've seen in I don't know how long. I love movies and we go probably 3-4 times a month. Sometimes in the summer, even more. This still beats everything I've seen in a long time. I will buy this one! Awesome. I read the book too and it was good but in this rare case, the movie was better than the book. I hightly recommend it. It's too bad that most people haven't even heard of it.

The Ultimate Gift is one of the best movies I have ever seen. I saw the movie in the theatre and it changed my way of thinking. This is an EXCELLENT movie for the entire family to see. I plan to host viewing parties, so I can show the movie and discuss it afterwards. There are several Christian worldview values throughout the movie. I would encourage people to host viewing parties, so others can see the movie and see the beauty of this masterpiece.

I read The Ultimate Gift book by Jim Stovall and after reading the book, I implemented the gifts in my life.

If you are looking for a movie that you can view with your famiy this is a must see. It has a good message and very entertaining

This is a great must have movie to watch over and over again. It makes you stop hopefully and look at your own life. Make sure that you haven't gotten caught up in the craziness of life and forgot the meaning of it. We borrowed one and after seeing it decided we needed a copy to have here at home to watch over and over again!

THIS IS THE ULTIMATE LOVE STORY BETWEEN THREE PEOPLE AND THE UNDOING OF THE PHRASE "THE LOVE OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL". JASON IS A SPOILED RICH KID(ADULT). THE GAME HE PLAYS INVOLVES EMILY A LITTLE GIRL WITH CANCER AND HER MOTHER ALEXI. JASON MUST EARN 12 GIFTS FROM HIS DECESED GRANDFATHER IN ORDER TO GET THE ULTIMATE GIFT WHICH HE HAS NO IDEA WHAT IT IS. HE BECOMES CLOSER TO EMILY AND ALEXI BECAUSE OF THESE GIFTS. THIS WILL BE A REAL TEAR JERKER FOR SOME PEOPLE. IT SHOWS WHAT TRUE LOVE CAN DO!!!!!!!!! I LIKED EVERY PART OF THIS MOVIE!!!!!!! AWANAKARD

This is probably THE best movie our family has watched together in a long time. WELL done acting and filming made it first class in production, but it was the story line that will be memorable. It is a needed movie in our culture of spoiled/lazy youth who need a dose of 'real-life' education. It is a wake up call that life is about more than having fun and the 'about me' mentality. Our family rented this movie and within the hour, I was on ebay to buy my own copy. It is a movie you will want to keep, watch again, and loan out!

What a great way to teach about strengths that each of us need to develop. This is a really heartwarming story with emotion that instills within us the desire to become better people and to be less selfish with that which God has given us.
Every family would do well to watch this, particularly those families who struggle with the division of an estate.

We (mother, sister and me) all watched this film the other night and it was terrific. We enjoyed it so much. I've been recommending it to everyone I know!

PS. Lee Meriwether is amazingly still as beautiful as ever in this movie.

This is a family movie with a wonderful message. This movie is good for all ages. It teaches the value of love and of helping others

Amazing movie. I purchased it for a gift exchange and the person that received this movie has never seen this movie. I was later told that this movie has touched them. It touched my heart as well thats why I purchased this movie.
