Lots of great ideas and good support for parents

This book has a lot of great ideas, some of which really helped me to get my 5-month-old son to take naps, and go down to bed easier. There are lots of good tips for getting a toddler to sleep in thier own bed as well. The authors guide you through setting up a "sleep plan", and offer lots of encouraging support along the way. The authors are definitely well-researched and seem to "know their stuff".
However, I was hoping that this book was going to offer an alternative to CIO (cry it out), but when it comes right down to it, this is really just a glorified plan for CIO, so if you are comfortable with CIO and looking for how to do it with the least misery for your child and yourself, than this book is definitely for you.
