Sisterhood: OK for mature grade-schoolers

This movie was engaging. I took my 8-year-old daughter, and she enjoyed the movie quite a bit. There are some tricky topics that you may need to discuss with your child before or after the movie. In particular, a character dies (although this is not shown on screen, and my daughter was confused about whether or not the character really died). Also, there is a situation where one of the girls sleeps with her boyfriend, but again, it's offscreen, and she just refers to it saying she wished she hadn't done that. It went right over my daughter's head (which was fine...). Overall, the movie speaks to the power of friendships, and shows girls going through a variety of challenging but realistic situations. It's a nice change from the land of the beautiful -- although all of these girls are very appealing. I recommend the movie.
