The Rookie (DVD, 2002, Full Frame)

This is a great movie that combines many aspects of cinematography into one amazing film. Being based on a true story, the plot is very good. The filming and actors are well thought out, creating an exhilarating film that you will Watch over and over.

This is truly a great baseball story made into a great movie. The movie went by and I really did not notice that his is Rated G. I am a big baseball fan and felt this was a great movie for myself and allowed the family to participate. Bull Durham is still the Greatest Baseball movie, but I watch that with my son when he is a little older. The Rookie is one I know I can watch with him and explain the game of baseball and not the other things at this time.

It gives hope to all ages that a person can succeed no matter how old or how far from their hopes and dreams they make think they are.
If you like fact based story lines "The Rookie" should be on you must see list.

This movie was based on a true story, and was very well done. It's about a high school teacher who coaches baseball, and whose students incourage him to try out for the big leagues because none of them can a hit any ball he pitches. To humor them, he agrees to try out provided his team wins the sectionals, figuring they would never do so. (They only got one win the previous year.)Incredibly, his team wins,and so he is forced to honor his agreement and attempt to try out for the majors. He finds out to his surprise that he has a 98 mile an hour fast ball and the scouts become interested in him. His old dream of playing major league ball begins to become realized. Acting was good, and the movie is a joy to watch, and will hold any baseball fan to his seat, even non baseball fans! Highly recommended. Russ

We had purchased the DVD of the Rookie for our son's birthday present. It was not only wonderfully priced, but also arrived to our home in a timely fashion. Both of my sons have enjoyed watching this DVD over and over again. The quality of it was excellent.

This is a very good movie and one that the whole family can watch. My husband and I enjoyed it very much!

Being based on a true story, this film addressed many day to day challenges we all face (financial difficulties, small children not understanding adult decisions, mom struggling to balance children, daddy and work, etc.). This film portrayed the inner struggles of a man who dearly loves his family while wondering what could have been. As his wife encourages him, he follows his dream, but faces many temptations and longs to be beside her at home. The rest is a must see, but I will say that this film develops good family morals that are so many times torn down by other films in today's market. This movie also reminds viewers that it is never too late to pursue a dream. All who watch will be encouraged and entertained-an exceptional combination.

The dvd came brand new in the sealed package. I couldn't beat the price and shipping. I bought it for my son's Valentine's Day gift bag. The movie was a favorite of ours since he played baseball throughout his youth.

We had watched it before. When it came up as other movies the seller had, I put a bid on it. I wasn't looking for it, but I'm glad I found it. Since Christmas, the kids have watched it three times. It's a nice feel good film. Never too old to follow your dreams.
