The Rock (DVD, 1997)

This movie is definitely geared to adults. With Sean Connery (one of my favs) and Nicholas Cage (another fav), you know there is a lot of action and suspense. I like the O'Hara style ending best of all! This is a really good movie!

We bought this movie because of the great cast: Nicolas Cage, Sean Connery, Ed Harris, and Michael Bien just to name a few. The story is pure Hollywood and scary as heck if it were to really happen, but the witty dialogue and snappy comebacks are hilarious between action sequences. It's also one of our favorite Cage movies. He is in his element as an Elvis loving, science "super freak", as he calls himself in the film. His momentum building tirades are priceless and added to Connery's laid back "I could kill you if I wanted to" attitude this movie is a real gem. It is very violent and context is too adult for kids, so be aware. Language is also adult, but quite funny. It's fun, fast moving and will keep you on the edge of your seats.

Much too violent for my liking - and with a theme ranging unsteadily around a military/undercover/impossible odds type of beat, you can be forgiven for thinking that it's just another disaster movie. Disaster threatens from almost the start as the good guys, Connery and Cage, take on an elite company of U.S. marines and, naturally, win. The movie is jerky and cliched throughout and never really caught me in spite of the presence of Sean Connery who has proven yet again that he can provide a spark in the dirtiest of dishwater conditions. Lots of action which is likely to appeal to younger viewers but this is clearly not for the very young. An interesting plot with possibilities but totally wasted in my opinion. Awful characterizations, except perhaps for Connery. The violence is both extreme, gratuitous and unimaginative. It's also totally unbelievable, and no, I don't see why movies have to be made like this. If I rate it at 3 stars it is because I have been advised that it was a forerunner stylistically. Let's hope the genre has improved!

I won the movie on Sept 20 2006 and as of Nov 22 2006 have not received my DVD.
I emailed the seller several times about the DVD and they always had an excuse for the movie not arriving. I would not recommend this seller or his products to anyone. In fact I have warned people of this seller so that they do not have the same problem I did. So I could not rate the product itself because I have not received it yet and proably will not.

I think this is a wonderful action movie and the actors are just as great, keep me on the edge of my seat!

the the cast, love the movie. bought the movie cause i've seen it before and love Nicolas Cage and Sean Connery. Ed Harris is one of my favorites also. Exciting and on your seat til the end!!!

I just like this movie cuz it,s action movie, and no crazy stuff like other new movies, too much junck, magic witches, and fortune tellers, evil movies.

I am very pleased to watch The Rock after nearly a decade for the second time. In my book, it's one of the best of movies of 1996. The Rock brought together Sean Connery and Nicholas Cage, such an awesome combination.

Some adrenalin pumping scenes followed by some heart warming scenes, especially the one between Sean Connery (dad) and Carla Forlani (daugther).

Background music is pleasing and has a nice subtle effect to the story.

I would recommend this movie those who wants to watch Sean Connery (legend of his time) with today's superstar Nicholas Cage.

How can you go wrong with this movie? Good story GREAT actors. Not a kiddie movie so watch out who sees.

this was a great adventure movie there was lots of action sean connery and nicholas cage were at their best the truth to this movie is that it could very well be true things like this exist and we don't know about it and things like this happen and we never hear about it until 20 years later excellent movie all the way

I am replacing my VHS with all DVDs This movie was one of my late husband's favorites and I enjoy it too.

It was sent on time and in great packaging. I would recommend this seller again. The movie was also a fair price.

This movie is still good after all these years. That's what makes it a classic. The story works & the cast is loaded. Sean connery is great like always. Nic cage does a good job in his role. The rest of the cast contributes great performances that make this movie so good. The movie has great action & keeps the tension throughout the movie. Purchasing this dvd is a no brainer, this is a must own for any action movie fan!

One of Sean's best and most memorable. Favorite line is: "Maybe I'm losing my sex appeal." That will never happen as Sir Connery has what few other actors have achieved and that is total class. Nicholas Cage did a great job playing opposite. The entire cast made an awesome movie with thrills and surprises at every turn. Who would ever think Alcatraz would actually be so appealing as a prison or tourist attraction? Work it, Ranger Bob!

I collect all the sean connery movies I can find from his james bond days to the untouchables I just wish he made more he is such a fine actor
