Malcolm X: The Death of a Prophet
Malcolm X: The Death of a Prophet is an independent film shot on a budget. The soundtrack is diffcult, echo-ey. The film traces the last 24 hours of the life of Malcolm X. It seems to be accurate and the film well-meaning. However, it has technical difficulties that are hard to surpass. It does have the Oscar-winning Morgan Freeman in the title role, much younger than his full movie days. The acting is good. If you stop having to pay attention to the technical failures of this film, you can see a good, accurate, semi-documentary of the last days of Malcolm X. However, the technical difficulties are real problems. The sound is very off, the editing is difficult, the music track is strange. Good for historical perspective but the Spike Lee film "Malcolm X" is a much better film.
