With THE REMIXES, Mariah Carey presents another compilation that can go on the shelf next to her #1's and GREATEST HITS. This two-disc set features Carey's best bits reworked by a number of famous names in the dance world including David Morales, Junior Vasquez, and C&C Music Factory (aka David Cole and Robert Clivilles). As a thumbnail portrait of this Long Island native's career, the collection balances dance-floor-ready remixes with grittier hip-hop tracks. As a result, the first disc features nine of her biggest club hits, including "Dream Lover," "Fantasy," "Emotions," and "Fly Away (Butterfly Reprise)." Also notable is the Carey/Vasquez team-up on "Heartbreaker/If You Should Ever Be Lonely." Disc two can easily be considered the Mariah Carey rap disc, as many of the songs feature her work with some of hip-hop's biggest stars, including Snoop Dogg ("Crybaby"), Busta Rhymes and the Flipmode Squad ("I Know What You Want"), and the always-outrageous O.D.B. ("Fantasy").

This is a great re-mix cd, but only purchase if you're into re-mixes. The First CD is full of long Club style songs. The 2nd CD is full of shorter mainstream type re-mixes. Most are very well done. A sure winner with any Mariah Carey fan.

Mariah Remodels Herself For The Dance & Hip-Hop Clubs On "Remixes"

    Pros:
Some remixes here are better than the originally recorded versions.

    Cons:
Mariah overdoes it a bit with the guest rappers and the predictable samples.

Ah, Mariah...once one of the bright lights in contemporary music now reduced to a punchline. Whereas once when we thought of you we considered the immense voice punctuated by dog-whistle high notes and a sort of there/not there bland personality, you are now known as the loose cannon of divas. Slipping into a tub wrapped in a towel on "Cribs", performing a striptease on "TRL", "Glitter" and it's aftermath-Mariah Carey has officially become the diva you love to hate. Not that much of her early music was cause for celebration. After making an excellent debut album, Mariah settles into a heavy...

Mariah Carey - The Remixes (it's finally here)
    Review created: 10/14/03

    Pros:
2 discs, she re-sings most of the remixes, the 2nd disc

    Cons:
    A couple omitted tracks

For years, I ve been hoping that Mariah Carey would release a remix album . I never thought it would happen because it just didn t seem like something she d release. So leave it to Sony to do it for her. Even though Mariah is behind the release, saying that her fans have been asking for the album for a while now, it is a Sony release (I m not sure how many more albums she s contracted to release under the Sony label). The Remixes is a 2-disc set which separates 2 different kinds of remixes. Disc 1 is Mariah s Club/Dance Mixes (songs you d hear at a club, obviously). Disc 2 contains Mariah s...

This is a sad day for me? Do you guys know why? Well, this is my last Mariah Carey review... :( I know, it's sad, isn't it? As Much as I delayed this, I knew I had to review it someday and someday just finally came. While Mariah is coming out with a new album this fall, I won't be reviewing any Mariah Carey albums until her new album is released. Although, I will review some of her DVD's and things of that nature so be on the lookout for that. To begin with, this album (or should I say compilation) was too much to review so some tracks are going to go in the garbage, alrighty? ALRIGHTY THEN!..

      Mariah the Misunderstood Remix Goddess
    Review created: 12/30/03
    by: twinpeaks15 -- a member of Epinions

    Pros:
Contains some of the best remixes of the 90's, including "Fantasy" featuring ODB

    Cons:
Inexplicably contains non-remix tracks and non-hits like "Sweetheart"

Mariah Carey's name has fallen victim to the slander of about every magazine, newspaper, and published report in the world in the past few years, when a flurry of negative media flew in when her nervous breakdown coincided with the release of her "Glitter" LP. Say what you will about Ms. Carey's personality (although I've met the charming woman before and would likely disagree), but you can't argue against the music. This album is a long overdue collection of Mariah's "Remixes" featuring the most important remixes of the 90's. Long before artists like Jennifer Lopez and Ja Rule began to seek..
