The soft Liverpudlian lilt of ex-Beatle Ringo Starr narrates the tale, telling the story of Oblio: A sad outcast from the village of "Point." largely eschewed by the local villagers due to his round head. The adventures of Oblio and his trusty sidekick dog Arrow subsequently take shape in the "Pointless Forest," a wonderland filled with colorful characters and some enchanting secrets.

Reviews Review created: 08/09/08 by: When I was in high school in the 70's, we stayed in a friend's cabin to ski. They had the album of The Point which we listened to over and over. When the movie came out later, that was even cooler because then, everything we had invisioned was right there in front of us and RINGO was the narrator!! I shared the video of it with my own children, who still quote it now. "You been goofin' with the bees?" and "A point in every direction is the same as no point at all!" are part of our family language. I bought the DVD of The Point because my 24 year old son was having trouble with some decisions about college and we started laughing about his having a point in every direction. He was coming to visit and it seemed appropriate to get him his own copy that he could hang onto for his own children. Three generations of loving Nilsson's very interesting humor. It's an interesting, kind of weird video with great music and a good moral to "believe in everyone" and that "everyone has a point in life" that is now a part of our family make up. We love it. Even though this story's character appeals to children, the stylistic music and graphic imagery hark to a more adult audience. For those of us who have grown up watching this tale, are excited to see its availability on DVD. The movie is definetly worth viewing at least once to form your own opinion. Report this review I don't want to give anything away, but how can you go wrong with Ringo Starr as a Narrator and Harry Nilsson as the music writer and performer? YOU CAN'T!!! This is an incredible film for children as well as adults. I prefer to relax with a little help from my friend and journey into the incredible world of "The Pointless Forest" with Oblio and his trusty pal (his dog) Arrow. You will enjoy this film!
