The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane by Katherine Howe (2009, Hardcover)

this book, by first time author, Katherine Howe, is a page burner for anyone who likes a fast paced story. It switches seamlessly between the present and Colonial Salem with well developed characters and lessons in history and relationships. Well Done!!!!

She writes about what she knows. Above all, she writes very well. As a Historical Fiction novel at the time when living in Salem was a dangerous place, it moves back and forth through time, smoothly. A wonderful story told strongly and clearly.

good & suspenseful at the beginning, but a little to predictable at the end

The book was an very interesting story that takes you through modern life and back to the 1600's. Its beautifully written and weaves the story in a matter thats makes you want to keep reading until the end, which comes quickly cause you cant put the book down.

This was a very enjoyable book. I didn't quite get into it as much as I did Harry Potter, but if there is a sequel, I will definitely read it. I also learned a lot about the Salem witch trials and Colonial American life. The author is actually a descendant of 2 women tried for witchcraft in the 1600's so she definitely has a unique perspective. I definitely recommend it.

This is such a fun read. I couldn't put it down. Nice idea of transitioning back and forth between today and the witch trials in the 1600s. Well done.

I purchased the book after reading other reviews. I was immediately drawn into the story and have a hard time putting it down. I definitely would recommend this book.

I love historical fiction, and this was wonderful!
I love the way it seamlessly went from 1692 to the present, back and forth. I give it a 10! I learned a lot, too. That's always a plus. The characters were great, too. There wasn't anything I didn't like about this book.

Historical fiction at its finest! Connie, a graduate student, faces history in a very personal way. Howe gives us a new perspective of the Salem Witch Trials, while remaining true to everything we already knew. Many of the women named in The Crucible make an appearance here, so students who would like more insight after reading Crucible would enjoy reading Deliverance Dane. This book is appropriate for all ages. I will be recommending it to my high school students as well as to my friends.

I loved this book. It was one of those that when you turned the page you almost felt like you were right there with them.A very charming book indeed.
I bought it , because it sounded interesting .Of course the title was eye catching!
