The Phantom of the Opera [Remaster] by Original Cast (CD, Feb-2001, 2 Discs, Polygram Records)

Excellent cd set for anyone that's seen the play OR the movie and loves Phantom. It has everything, including the libretto in the enclosed book.

This recording puts you back in the audience. Sit back and close your eyes and you can see the wonderful sets as the music fills your ears.

Here it is! The original cast recording of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Masterpiece. If you are looking for a recording of the film version, this is not for you, however if you are a fan of the Musical, you can relive the magic over and over again with this recording.
While most of the musical is adapted from the novel, it really is hauntingly beautiful. While not a true Opera, the music and acting make it very entertaining. This recording has lines from the script so it is almost like following the musical. You can listen to this rather than going to the theatre.
If you must get a C.D. of Phantom get the full Original Cast and not the watered down Highlights. This is guaranteed to bring hours of entertainment to any musical fan and even some Opera fans.

I saw the stage show of Phantom of the Opera and loved it so much that I wanted the CD so I could listen to the music whenever I wanted. I went on line, then went on eBay to compare prices. I couldn't believe it, I found an unopened CD from the original Lincoln Center cast for very cheap, and I bought it. The CD came sealed, as advertised, and the CD played perfectly. I am very happy with this purchase.

What's to review... the CD speaks (and sings) for itself. Wonderful music and wonderful performers. The CD was just as the seller offered, excellent condition and complete and with libretto. There was nothing I disliked about it, as a matter of fact, I'm thrilled with it!

The Phantom of the Opera contains some of the best music you could hope to hear. However, all the essential tracks can be found on the one-disc "Highlights from Phantom of the Opera." The additional tracks which are present only in the two-disc set are generally more fragmented, and most of them use the same melodies as the main songs (Music of the Night, Angel of Music, The Phantom of the Opera, etc). Unless you're a completist, or a huge fan of the musical, you probably have no reason to favor this set over the "Highlights" disc.

I love this soundtrack! I got it right after the movie came out and I have loved it ever since! It makes you feel like you are seeing the movie agian on the big screen! I love Christine's (Emmy's) voice - it's awesome!Andrew Loyd Weber did an excellent job! If you loved the movie, you'll love the soundtrack; This CD is a must for every music lover!

i received the discs exactly as i ordered. they shipped it quickly. thank you. it was exactly what i wanted. the cds and case all arrived nicely packed up and they were great.

Hey, this was a great purchase. It was received in a timely fashion. The item was as requested...NEW!

First of all, it took over 3 wks. to receive this item. Secondly, the case was quite cracked and broken, so that the disks cannot stay in their place, nor does the plastic partition that holds the disks fit inside the case, because it is broken also. Finally, not a word on the outside case or in the lengthy booklet are in English - it is all Asian characters. Thus, I am disappointed and would not give this seller a good rating. The only good thing is that it is a good enough recording.

fantastic full length original cast recording. way better then the 1 disk highlight. I got it originally in 87 when I was the eyewear director at the broadway inc.

I bought Phantom of the Opera CD because I love the main theme. I listen to the entire show while I'm writing and found it to be very interesting. If you like the main theme that everyone is familiar with by Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford than you would like this CD.

Absolutely the best version of "Phantom of the Opera". The wonderful voices of Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman make this 2 CD set magical. This version also includes a text of the words of each song and also the spoken parts.
