The Patriot (VHS, 2000)

This is Mel Gibson at his finest!! Many movies of this genre fall flat, well not this one...Plan to be glued to the screen from beginning to end!!

Of particular note in "The Patriot" was the costumes & props - the persons in charge did a fantastic job! It seems like extra effort was put into this movie. The photography was outstanding! The acting by everyone was 1st class. "The Patriot" is loosley based on the true story of Francis "The Swamp Fox" Marion during the American Revolution. This 2000 release definately belongs in the NTSC VHS collection of a historian or militaria collector. Personally, I see nothing wrong with school age children seeing it but the parent needs to review it first to make sure. Well worth the price!

Great acting, great historically informative plot. Not only worth watching, but a must have in any American home video library. I highly recommend this one, and I do not do that with just any movie.

I like the fact that I can edit only the parts I need for teaching purposes. Showing a DVD in class requires selecting scenes throughout the period and takes away from the flow of learning. An edited DVD that I can make myself is more efficient.
