The Patriot (2007, Blu-ray Disc)

Excellent movie and acting. Should go down one day as all time classic. The Patriot has humor when the father (Mel Gibson) was trying to build a rocking chair that would stay together was so funny.....then changing completely from a mild man to killer to protect his family as chilling and later when his little girl spoke.......had to get out the box of tissues. Had something for everyone. Again, excellent movie.

I think Mel Gibson directed this action packed movie, which I now have on DVD and BluRay DVD. It's about the revolution in 1776, The British are portrayed as real nasty folks, I doubt they were as bad as the movie shows, but in war who knows.

One of his sons gets killed drawing him into a battle he was trying to avoid at all costs, I really liked this movie and have seen it several times now.

The patriot is a great movie. The story is set during the Revolutionary War. Gibson goes off to fight the war and tries hard to make his son "Heath Ledger". Change his mind about wanting to join the army to defend his country.

Pros: Gibson and Ledger's acting are solid, good storyline, History is accurate
Cons: Maybe a little to long for some

Overall this is a good movie not much if any profanity unlike like most movies now. The history of this movie is accurate. The movie makes you think about our military and how they go into danger for us.

War is heck, and bloody. This part of the American Revolution is not glossed over, but that the concepts of freedom and liberty are at the core of the war - concepts which we, today, do not know any longer. With freedom, and with liberty come responsibility, and the "Patriot" sets the stage for early America as it delves into these concepts for the first time as a country.

And to top it off, its just a good war flick.

This is an excellant movie, one of Mel Gibson's best. It is set back during the war for independance. It has an all star cast and the detail in the costumes and props are right on. But that is what we expect from a Gibson film. Heath Ledger was his eldest son and turns in an explosive performance. I would recomend this film to aqnyone. My son's school showed it in US history this year as a staple of the curriculum. I think it is a good way to show our teens that the freedom they enjoy now was not free, but was built on the sacrifices of our ancestors.

This is one of my favorite films. Its a dramatic recreation of a time when the US was becoming great. The action never slows down and the story just keeps coming. Still not sure Blu-ray is worth it. A good up converting dvd player provides similar quality on 720P and 1080i.

GREAT OLD TIME WAR MOVIE!!! I like the aspect of how it was back then and how they showed it throughout the film.. I would say it is a must buy for anyone that likes a good old war movie..

This was always a great movie, but the Blu-Ray version has added minutes, and translates brilliantly to HD. The color and sound are tremendous.

I do will Mel Gibson would return to the FRONT of the camera!

Many features enacted throughout aroused memorys of realism. Appreciate its a movie.
Hate, grief, love, envy, all were depicted by some good actors. It had some shortcomings, but on the whole was very good.

I have the movie in both regular dvd format, and now blu-ray. NO COMPARISON! The battle scenes and overall quality of the blu-ray version is light years ahead of the standard dvd.

The transfer to Blu-ray is pretty good though not top notch as everyone should know by now that older movies are JUST NOT going to look as good as newer ones.

For the movie itself, it is Great and obviously very Patriotic. From the A-list acting to the, writing, cinematography, etc. etc. This is hands down one of Mel Gibson's best parts and at times its just as good as Braveheart.

First, I'm a HUGE Mel Gibson fan. This movie is a classic! Though I would say it's really for the 17+ crowd. I loved this movie when it came out...and on Bluray...WOW! You see so much more...right down to the delicate embroidery in the costumes!!! I bought this for my husband's birthday, as it's also one of his favorites...he's THRILLED! Lastly, the price was right...we live in a small town where the Bluray selection leaves a lot to be desired. So Ebay has been awesome for selection and price...

Great action movie a must see for anyone who likes action movies. Lots of explosion lots of violence. This is a must buy for everyone

This is one of my favorite movies! I had a regular DVD of it, but the Blu Ray edition is so much better. The picture is great.

This was an excellent movie on DVD, but is even ten times better on blu ray, the extended cut is awesome, I highly recommend it.

This is a really good movie. If you liked Braveheart you should like this one too. Actors are very good. The storyline is very good. Good guy and girl movie. Touches your heart but also has lots of action and drama.
