The orange box for ps3 is a great bundle of games. You have the ability to choose from 5 different games; Half-Life 2,Half-Life 2:Episode 1,Half-Life 2:Episode 2, Team Fortress, and Portal. All of the games are very fun to play. My favorite was Half-Life 2 because of its great graphics and gameplay. I also enjoyed portal as well as team fortress. If you want a multi-game bundle in 1 buy The Orange Box. Great Item 5/5

Excellent games, decent version of them.

If PS3 is your only way to play the Half-Life 2 games, Portal, or Team Fortress 2, then by all means purchase Orange Box on PS3. The games are still fully intact like the PC and 360 versions, the only problems are that the load times are a bit long and the framerates sometimes a bit low. The game does run at full 720p and most of the time runs at a respectable framerate, but sometimes it's just downright unplayable. Supposedly EA is releasing a patch in March, and if it was brought up to par with the 360 version it'd be perfect for those of you without beefy computers. I have a computer that can run all these games at max settings flawlessly, but there's still something a bit more fun about using a controller to play games. In short, if you have a PC or 360, those would probably be better options, but Portal and TF2 alone are games no self-respecting gamer should miss, and so this provides PS3 owners a very respectable version to play them.

This is a fun first person shooter game. The camera angles can be a pain at times, but this happens alot on first person shooters. This game disc has 5 games to play.Half-Life 2 and episodes one and two.Fabulous games, always heard about them,so when they finally released them on playstation 3 I found it cheap.Worth the money for those games alone.Portal is another game on this disc.I could not get into playing this, just was not interested. The last game on here is Team fortress 2,an online multiplayer game.I don't play online, never have, probably never will, and since you can't play this game by yourselve I have not played it.Worth a try out if you like first person shooters.

  5 games in 1. Period.

When you get five different games on one disc AND it is super cheap, you already know it's worth it. But until you actually shoot some sticky bombs at a blue medic or walk through a wall to come out upside down above where you previously were or you need to take a bath (yes, a BATH!!!) because of all the zombie alien scum on you, you have no idea how great a game it is. Five GREAT games, one convenient disc. All i have to say is, if you don't already own it, buy it. The $15 can be put to much better use by owning a disc with multiple sources of entertainment. The only things it lacks is 1080p and Counterstrike Source.

  Bang for your buck

Let me start by saying I am soooo glad I decided to buy this game. The Orange box has a total of 5 different games on one disc. Now granted, 3 of these games are from the same series: Half Life 2
Half Life 2 Episode 1
Half Life 2 Episode 2
And the other two games being: Portal and Team Fortress 2.

I have only played Portal (beat it) and Half Life 2 (still playing) but in my opinion Portal alone made this disc worth it for me. I have not played a game in a long time that has made me think and use my brain like Portal did. Once I started playing I was hooked and really got into the game and its story. Overall its such a fun and unique game to play. The only downside is that it's not a very long game (19 levels). But dont get me wrong, you dont exactly fly through it either. Some levels may have you stuck thinking of what to do for awhile. There were 2 levels where i had to get help from online walkthroughs, but only after exhausting myself trying to figure it out on my own. However once you beat it, you do unlock bonus games you can play which offer a variety of modes on levels already played.
Half Life 2 is a first person shooter that takes a little while to get going, but once it does the story moves along nicely. Now I havent finished it yet, but I can tell you it's a typical first person shooter with a pretty cool sci-fi storyline. I definitely see myself playing all 3 of the Half Life 2 games on the disc.
Team Fortress 2 is a multiplayer online game that I have not gotten to play yet because I've been too busy with Portal and Half Life 2. But I'm sure it will be a really fun game to play based on what I've heard. But it's basically 2 teams of up to 20 or so players playing Capture the Flag or another version called Control Point. There are 9 different classes of characters to choose from, all with different and unique abilities. There are 3 Offensive Classes: Scout, Soldier and Pyro. And there are 3 Defensive Classes: Engineer, Demoman and Heavy Weapons Guy. And 3 Support Classes: Medic, Sniper and Spy. Lots of shooting and running and team strategy.
I picked this game up for $32 brand new and at the price I got a great deal. Even at $50 this game is still a bargain and I would definitely recommend it.

UPDATE: July 28, 2008

It's been 3 weeks since I originally wrote this review and wanted to come back to give an update. Since the last time I wrote, I've been playing the Half Life 2 series. I just finally beat the last episode and can honestly say I'm sad. I will sorely miss this game. Without a doubt the best First Person Shooter I've played yet. Such a cool story with a variety of action and puzzles. The fact that you get all these games on one disc is absolutely incredible. Without a doubt the best disc you can pick up for your PS3 or XBox360. I hope I can find another game that keeps me as occupied as this game did. I just started playing Resistance: Fall Of Man and am not really enjoying it at all. I heard so many great things about it and I'm bored after 10 minutes and have no desire to play again. Hopefully I will get into it, but I think I'm just in mourning over being done with Half Life 2.

Anyway, just to make things clear: YOU ARE AN IDIOT FOR NOT BUYING THIS GAME AT ANY PRICE. Well worth it.

P.S. I still havent played Team Fortress 2 yet and probably never will, but I'm sure it's a great game.

This is truly a magnificent collection of games. 5 great games for a very reasonable price. Half life 2, with its trademark physics engine and sophisticated story line make it one of the best games ever made. Portal is probably the most ingenius game ever created, making the payer live its sci fi fantasy of using portals at will. Lets not leave Team Fortress 2 behind, this game makes for a reall fun multiplayer experience.

This was a great buy. Its 5 games in one for the price of one game. Half-life is sweet and portal offers tons of fun. Team Fortress 2 offers hours of game play that's different from your average online shooter. Pick this up if your looking for something different to play.

Five great games in one excellent package.
Review created: 08/04/09

The Orange Box was a great game on PC, and the Playstation 3 port holds its own pretty well. Team Fortress 2 can be difficult to play using a controller at some points, due to its fast-paced game mechanics, but everyone else is at the same disadvantage. Portal, likewise, can get tough on the harder levels simply due to controller play. Other than that, though, the port is a solid transition and worth getting for anyone who didn't buy Orange Box on PC.

The game is full of amazing graphics and great single player a great multi-player experience. Unfortunately, the game is marred with extremely long load times (for both single and multi-player) and multi-player is constantly bogged with low-frame rate.

takes 10 minutes to setup. Simply follow the steps below. I promise you,
this is 100% real. I will answer you on any question! Here is what you
do. Click on the link below, register, pick an account type (referral is
the easiest) and complete just 1 offer (Very important that you complete
the 1 offer otherwise your account will sit in limbo until you do). This
is not like other sites where you need to complete one offer on 2 or 3
different pages!!! And a lot of these offers are FREE trials with
nothing else to buy...No commitments!!!

There are plenty of cool offers to choose from such as Blockbuster
online, Stamp.com, Netflix, Gamefly which are services you would
regularly sign up for anyways and their all secure networks, why not use
them to get a free PS3 System or cash (I did the Stamps.com for a 30 day
free trial and it never cost me a penny and I received credit for it the
same day). Look at the offers and choose the one that works for you.
After signing up and completing your one offer, simply refer 8-13 people
(depending on the FREE prize you choose) to do the same under your link
(just post the same thing as I have on eBay, and you'll get your
referrals before the auction even ends.)

Then they will ship your PS3 System or your selected item for free, I
chose the PS3 80gb System. No Joke, 100% REAL!!! The reason these
companies make money, is because most people don't bother getting all
the referrals. All you have to do is post it ! They use us as
advertisement by word of mouth which saves them tons of money which goes
toward yours and my free gift. These are legit companies such as
Blockbuster, Netflix, Gamefly etc... You can copy my listing if you

This is the best deal you will find if you love vavle's games. The Half-Life series will probably be your main reason for getting this. The Portal and Team Fortress are amazing as well, and a good break from Half-Life if you're still playing your system. Many will be very pleased to find that unlockable commentary can be accessed simply by completing a level for the Portal and Team Fortress. You can completely customize your control scheme, whatever you may want it to be, in all of the games. For instance, you can make the fire button to be X, or the jump button to be R1. The loading times, and occasional glitches will sometimes take away from the experience on the console versions, but overall it is worth your money. This game is a MUST BUY.

Great game. Constant fun within all the games included.
Review created: 06/12/09

This game is definitely worth buying. You get several games out of it and each are different yet entertaining. I'd highly recommend it. The portal game is probably the most fun because of the fact it's a giant puzzle. I have yet to play the half life games but I have heard good things about it. Team fortress 2 is also a great title and has a lot of comical humor that is great and goes along well with the addicting gameplay.

Good bang for the buck. Nothing compares to COD4 though as a shooter game. Fortress is a fun game and keeps my interest for quite a while. Half life is frustrating because you can't run anywhere. Portal is fun. I got bored with it so i'm glad there was 5 different games to keep me interested.

  The Orange Box (PS3)
Review created: 05/25/09

There's a little bit of everything on this game disc. You've got Portal, which is a puzzle solving game where each level you complete makes the next a little bit harder and more complex. There's Team Fortress 2, which is the follow up to the original Team Fortress that spawned team based action player games. You team up with other players online and fight. Then we come to the main game on Orange Box. Half Life 2, where you play Gordon Freeman, a scientist who is trying to rid the world of the hordes of alien attackers. This action/adventure game is the sequel to Half Life, one of the most acclaimed games of its time. So you've got action/adventure, online multiplayer battle, and puzzle solving. What's not to like?

  Orange Box PS3
Review created: 05/24/09

The Bottom Line

Yes, the "true" Half-Life 2 experience is to be had on a PC. Yes, I will admit that the mouse keyboard combo is a better hardcore option for shooters than the Sixaxis. But, Half-Life 2: The Orange Box is a superb PS3 game, and an excellent option should you not be able to, or want to play the PC version. Sure, it may run smoother on the Xbox 360 or have more community content on the PC, but if you want the experience, and have a PS3, this is not only adequate, it nears excellence. Playing Portal on your HDTV sitting on your couch beats the office chair/monitor setup any day of the week.

Pros
Quite possibly the greatest gaming value in history, or at least close to it
Console jockeys now will know the pleasure of Half-Life 2, et al
Portal is one of the more memorable and original FPS experiences in years
The Half-Life games tell a story better than any FPS in recent memory
Cons
Driving in Half-Life is dismal
People will complain about the controls, others will be glad to be keyboard free
Yup, framerate issues again, the Xbox 360 version runs more smoothly
Load times can be a drag, not too long, but close for a FPS
