The Orange Box (Playstation 3)

Description
Once again players assume the role of Gordon Freeman, a scientist destined to save the Earth from hordes of gruesome alien attackers. Valve has created a fully realized world in Half-Life 2, with objects and characters that feature accurate physics properties, behaving with the appropriate mass, density, and physical properties of their real-life counterparts. Extremely intelligent computer AI result in enemies that plan, adapt, and respond to the player's actions.

The next-gen console version comes packed with bonuses in addition to the genre-expanding original Half-Life 2 game. Half-Life 2: Episode One and Episode Two add-on levels are also on the disc, as are the stunningly complex puzzle game Portal and the online phenomenon Team Fortress 2.

Special Features

  • Half-Life 2 -- the sequel to one of the most acclaimed games of its time, Half-Life 2 opens the door to a world where the player's presence affects everything around him, from the physical environment to the behaviors even the emotions of both friends and enemies.
  • Half-Life 2: Episode One -- the first installment in Valve's episodic trilogy follows right on the heels of HL2's ending as Gordon and Alyx flee from City 17, fighting against creatures who were previous blocked from enetering the city.
  • Half-Life 2: Episode Two -- the second installment in Valve's episodic trilogy advances the award-winning story, leading the player to new locations outside of City 17.
  • Portal -- a pioneering type of single player action game that rewrites the rules for how players approach and manipulate their environment – much like how Half-Life 2's Gravity Gun reinvented the way gamers interact with objects in the game.
  • Team Fortress 2 -- an all-new version of the legendary title that spawned team based multiplayer action games. The game's daring new art style features the most advanced graphics of any Source-based game released to date.

        Continuation of great series!

Orange Box for PC is a better deal, because you receive all the previous episodes of HL2, multi players, and Portal. I don't think the previous episodes are available on PS3. The games are so good though, I purchased these PS3 games for Orange Box without owning a PS3 yet, but I'm close. Portal is an ingenious puzzler where you are generally presented with an entrance to a room, and must logically think your way through the space presented by firing two portals at walls, floors, and ceilings to weave your way to the exit. Differs from the survival horror, shooter puzzler of all of the other HL games before it. The only thing resembling shooting, is throwing a portal under a gun turret sitting on the floor or other surface. HL2 Episode 2 is quite a bit different from the other HL2 episodes. Many different environments are thrown in your path. The city streets are gone, and many more outdoor or even underground scapes will makes this a very interesting and challenging trek. The final battle has some old and new enemies, and is very frantic at times, but not overly difficult to accomplish. The folks creating the Half Life series keep proving they are the best game creators. The multi player addition, has gotten great reviews, and I'm not a multi kinda guy, but I am going to try this one. I cannot comment on the control scheme, and hope that it has a mouse enabled. If so, this would definitely be a must have game for the PS3.

Porrtal is one of the most groundbreaking games ever. It takes the simple Mario-world style of gameplay and translates it into a first-person shooter format. HL2 is also the best FPS to date, better than call of duty 4 or bioshock.

The orange box for ps3 is a great bundle of games. You have the ability to choose from 5 different games; Half-Life 2,Half-Life 2:Episode 1,Half-Life 2:Episode 2, Team Fortress, and Portal. All of the games are very fun to play. My favorite was Half-Life 2 because of its great graphics and gameplay. I also enjoyed portal as well as team fortress. If you want a multi-game bundle in 1 buy The Orange Box. Great Item 5/5
