Pharrell and Chad, Chad and Pharrell. Hooks, beats, guest rappers. Ok, whatever. Clones This is a compilation album in case anyone didn't know. From the minds of the two most sought out producers in a long time comes...Clones. It comes with a DVD which features several music videos and a long "interview" with Chad and Pharrell. The interview is really cool. Chad and Pharrell seem like they're cool people. I snagged the album the day after it came out at Fred Meyer for $14.88. I first saw Pharrell Williams in the music video for the song Lap Dance, and I immediately fell in love with his voice and his beats (and his looks aren t bad either!). It s hard to describe what is so amazing about him, but there s definitely something there. It turned out that Pharrell was a member of a band called N.E.R.D. and I bought their CD In Search of and loved it. I had been noticing Pharrell in more and more videos and songs, like Britney Spear s Boys, and Justin Timberlake s Girlfriend, and I finally realized he and Chase Chad Salamats were in a group called the Neptunes. Is it possible for producers to be too effective for their own good? This is a question that has to be raised when speaking of the The Neptunes Present Clones. The Neptunes are the most sought-after producers of this millenium, so if one of their tracks is within your budget, it has almost become bad business to not get one of those tracks. The result is a list of clients that are mostly pop stars, but have gone past the prospect of making quality hip hop music. Noreaga (whose career would have ended three albums ago if not for the Neptunes) drunkenly stumbles through brain dead verses on Put.
