| Movie Description John Cena of the WWE stars in this barrelhouse brawler of a film as John Triton, a marine who gets discharged after he disobeys orders while rescuing prisoners in Iraq. Now he's back home in South Carolina with his wife, Kate (Kelly Carlson), and a lame security job. Meanwhile, a gang of colorfully violent jewel thieves knock over a diamond business and blow a police car 30 feet in the air while making their getaway. John and Kate are driving out in their SUV for a weekend in the mountains and wind up at the same gas station as the robbers. Shots get fired, the fuel tanks explode, and the bad guys hightail it out of there--with Kate as a hostage. Triton must now use his formidable Marine training to track the bad guys via car chase, boat chase, and knife-in-hand swamp-stalking. Despite the rampant violence, this is suitable for the WWE fanbase, as it downplays the blood and death and ups the quotient of sucker punches, throwing guys through walls, and leaping away from fireball explosions in slow motion. Robert Patrick plays the lead bad guy, shrugging off wry in-jokes about his role in TERMINATOR 2 while he shoots witnesses. Abigail Bianca is the evil girl in the gang--she and Kate get to have a fight of their own before it's all over. Fortunately Cena manages to hold his own onscreen amid the amusing dialogue and flying fists, making for a satisfying addition to the ranks of action heroes.

The Marine John Cena is a great personality every week on WWE programming so it was pretty obvious he would be a decent action star. WWE has been known to be over the top and The Marine is no different. Full-blown action from beginning to end. The Marine has gun fights, fist fights, knife fights, bomb fights, and pretty much any other fight you can think of. There's car chases, explosions, glass breaking, people being thrown, and pretty much every other form of violence you can think of. That being said I didn't think this film was that graphic, the film makers do a good job covering up the blood and guts with innovative camera angles. I already stated that John Cena does a good job as an action star and Kelly Carlson is fantastic as his wife. But the real key to this film is Robert Patrick as the main bad-guy. Patrick is amazing in almost every role he plays and this one is no different. He's funny, witty, and incredibly bad-@$$. Watching The Marine reminded me of all of the action films of yester-year; Predator, Commando, Rambo, Hard Target, Nowhere to Run, and pretty much every other action film from the late-80's, early-90's. If you enjoy old-school action you'll enjoy this. Final Verdict: 4/5 Rent or Buy?: If you have a Van Damme, Stallone, or Ahnold collection this film is a must buy, if not this film is just a rental. This is another great action packed movie for all of the Action Lovers to enjoy and if you are a guy, getting to see Kelly Carlson just makes it that much better! Although I am not a huge fan of the WWE persay, I do find myself a fan of the movies that have the superstars of WWE in them. I will say that John Cena has found his way into my must watch WWE actors along with The Rock. John Cena portrayed a tough Special Ops Marine John Triton who makes a tough decision to save three fellow soldiers by disobeying a direct order. The only devastating part of this decision is that he is unfortunately discharged from the one career he loved so much, being a MARINE! After returning home to his beautiful wife, Kate (Kelly Carlson), the two of them have an unfortunate encounter with a psychotic group of jewel theives. The leader of the group, Robert Patrick, and his posy end up making a devastating mistake by kidnapping Kate (Kelly Carlson) which brings out the best or the worst of this Special Ops Marine. You can pretty well figure out what happens then, the you know what really hits the fan. To find out how the rest of the movie goes, I guess you will just have to watch it to find out. I can pretty much guarantee you that those action buffs out there will find this a true action thriller. There is a lot of violoence in this movie for those with children or weak stomachs.
