The Little Mermaid (2006, DVD)

Disney movies are timeless, whimsical stories that will never go out of fashion and will live to entertain generation after generation!
The Little Mermaid is no exception to this rule. 2006 sees the release of this new, remastered version of their 1989 theatrical hit. In a 2 DVD format, this has brighter, more vibrant film footage which only adds to the delight of this film, coupled with extras that the initial pressing did not include - such as the story behind the Little Mermaid, which of course was loosely adapted from a Hans Christian Anderson tale, or a astounding virtual under the sea adventure!!Of course, the real appeal is in the actual tale itself, which tells a story of mermaid Ariel and her wish to become human! In order to achieve her dream , she bargains with the sea witch - Ursula (Disney really created a grotesque horrid character in Ursula which may be a little too intense for the younger viewer) - but of course, things are really not that simple and she finds herself battling for what she really has!!
This movie stands out for two main reasons - the incredible and vibrant graphics, probably amoung the best of the Disney Movies; and the songs - they help capture the mood of the film, tell the story and I would bet that even those who are not familiar with the movie will certainly know some of the songs such as "Under the Sea".
This is a movie the whole family will love and a worthy addition to your Disney Movie collection!

This is a great timeless movie. I have it on VHS and now on DVD. This movie was a favorite of my 14 year old and now my 6 year old. I bought this when my 6 year old had her tonsils out so that she could watch at the hospital. I also bought the newer Little Mermaid dvd to go along with this one. She loves Ariel!

I loved Disney's The Little Mermaid as a child and now my two-year-old daughter loves it as well. This is an awesome addition to our collection. We love all the special features that Disney has added, it also has fast play that lets you come back the movey where you left off. I highly recommend this DVD to the princess lover in us all, and those Disney collectors out there.

I have seen this movie before I bought it and I loved it. This is a movie I would watch over and over again.

I think this was the best Disney movie ever made. It came out my senior year of High School, 1991. Now I have a 17 month old that loves Ariel and all of the sea creatures. It is a great story that teaches us about life lessons and about the reprocussions of the decisions we make. A+++

I bought this DVD for my mom's birthday. She is starting to collect the old Disney movies like The Little Mermaid, Snow White, etc. I decided to buy it because it was so much cheaper than in stores.

My grandaughter age six went to see the Broadway play and had the CD that played the songs. I deceided to buy the DVD for her.

A great family movie and a classic!!! A must have for kids. Something you could watch every day and not get tired of hearing all the wonderful songs!

I love the Little Mermaid, especially the music. It is all so wonderful! I especially like the menus in this version of the DVD. They are so BEAUTIFUL! The bonus features are great too. I would recommend this DVD to pretty much anyone, especially those who love the ocean.

This was, in short, an AWFUL experience. i purchased this dvd online. it didnt work. went back to the seller to remedy the situation and he questioned my ability to operate a dvd player. i asked for one that works or a refund. seller said he didnt know why it didnt work. again, i asked for a refund and seller stated that "i had rubbed him the wrong way" and that i was "difficult to deal with" like all the newest members to ebay.

what a disaster. emails to ebay customer service got no response.

from here on out, i am shopping at target. at least i dont get insulted and have to pay shipping when i try to return something that doesnt work.

I loved "The Little Mermaid" as a little child and now I have a daughter that will enjoy it as much as I did, I'm sure of it. Little girls love the thought of Mermaids and the movie offers plenty of music to keep little children involved. There are many colors and it gives good & bad cases. The best part is the story line, which is to follow your heart and no matter what trouble you may get into, your family will always be there for you even if they do not agree. This movie is one of the few children's movies that I can actually enjoy myself.

I love that it was a great price. The movie was a classic. Ariel yearns to be a human, and to marry the prince, ERIC, and her father objects. So she goes to the sea witch to exchange her voice for a set of legs. NO skipping, and great music. I really love the soundtrack. Great songs.

The dvd was extremely dirty and scratched. It wouldn't play at all in one of my dvd players but did word in the other one. I guess I should expect a used children's dvd to be in poor condition but it was advertised to be in good condition.

I have 3 girls, 3, 4, & 6. 2 of which are foster girls. They LOVE this movie. All three will sit and watch the entire movie every time I put it in. It allows me to get some stuff done around the house! I would recommend it to every parent with a small child!

Great price for dvd, but shipping was a little high. I only considered purchase because I had a free shipping coupon from Ebay.

Love this movie! I remember watching it when it first came out. Now that I have a little girl to enjoy it, I get to fall in love with it again! It really keeps my almost 3 year old attention throughout the entire movie.

We decided to buy this movie because it was something I remember as a child and knew my daughter would fall in love with it the same way that I did. The first time she watched it her eyes lit up and made me smile. A classic I am sure she will eventually pass down to her own daughter someday.

When I was a young girl, I loved this movie. I knew my daughter would too. Too many things that are available for our children these days are too 'grown up' for them before their time. This movie, while a fantasy, has a simple story behind it. No adult inuendos. Just simple, child-like fantasy. And who didn't dream when they were young?
